Description
Outdated: New Version

Only for use with old game versions

Overview
Each Additional Officer past your starting 5 adds 2 to Max Crew.

Save game compatible.

Compatibility
  • Should be compatible with mods changing the number of Officers
  • Compatible with Expanded Crew when using the Default crew size of 30
  • Incompatible with other mods that modify crew size
If you mention a mod in the comments I can probably make it compatible. But if it's not listed as compatible here, it's not.

The modification is not compatible with the increased number of officers on board. The following happens. The new officer adds the possibility of hiring two more crew members, but at the same time he himself becomes unplayable. He has no strength. and he constantly sleeps, occupying a bunk. does not start his tasks.

Totally possible to do.
Alligator's Device Energy Management already reduces consumption per sailor by half when Real Air Consumption Sailor is turned on.
But that would need to be a separate mod, one I'm not even sure I would make.

Everything is layed out for anyone to do it. Just follow the example set by Device Energy Management and tweak the values until you have the range you want. Or you could also directly tweak the oxygen per sailor with a data sheets mod. It's in General/Settings/Resources/Oxygen Consumption Per Character.
Tweaks to that shouldn't require a new game.

Any chance you could implement something that keeps oxygen consumption at a flat rate regardless of how many crew you have on board? It would allow players to have something closer to historical crew numbers while maintaining realism by being able to stay under for a good long while before needing to surface.

Type VII boats could potentially stay down for up to 12-14 hours before having to catch a breath.

Would this be something better done as a separate mod? Or is this even possible at all with how the game is coded?

Sorry, it was the best I could come up with. Programmer, not great at naming.

For each purchased Officer upgrade max crew is increased by 2. So 1 officer upgrade takes you to 20, 2 officer upgrades to 22.
This also applies to any mods that increase maximum officer count.
It's just max count minus the starting 5.

The idea was to make sure there is always enough crew to assign 2 crew to each officer.
