ANTIQUA LEGENDARY, submod for DEI and Rome 2 - HANNIBAL AT THE GATES (v.1.1)

Description
ANTIQUA LEGENDARY - submod for DEI (1.3) and Rome 2 - Hannibal at the Gates DLC. It is slow paced mod based on some Testudo mod parts, but more similar to DEI gameplay. ANTIQUA LEGENDARY is only mod balanced for playing on Legendary difficulty! Mod is about game balancing and use existing DEI graphic, units and interface.

This mod should be loaded above Divide et Impera mod (all DEI parts) on your mod list. It is not intended to be played with vanilla game or without DEI enabled. This mod is only for Hannibal at the Gates DLC, not for Grand Campaign or other DLCs. When you intend to play other campaigns, please disable this mod first. This mod may be too easy on normal/hard difficulty. If have multiple Antiqua Legendary mods, ONLY ONE should be active.
Mod was made and balanced for DEI 1.3., later it is adjusted to DEI 1.3.1 / 1.3.2

Mod description:
- Optimised to play on legendary difficulty for veteran players! Just scroll to Legendary difficulty and play!
- No saves, fog of war mandatory, no battle pause...all beauty of Legendary difficulty
- 12 tpy
- Only true balanced mod for 12 turns per year (politics, building time, technology, movement, character and unit development, reforms...etc)
- First mod with tweaked legendary battle difficulty, to make it slightly easier and thus more realistic
- AI given selected handicaps to make legendary difficulty actually playable in campaign and in battles. Battles should be similar to DEI hard difficulty.
- AI is balanced to be not overpowered, but sneaky, not reliable and aggressive
- Slow paced, probably few hundred turns required to complete!
- Antiqua 4 turns diplomacy. Player can initiate diplomacy every fourth turn, but war and peace negotiation every turn. This is to simulate slow pace of diplomacy in old ages, and to prevent player to spent too many idle time at diplomacy screen.
- TESTUDO parts and selected testudo scripts (credits goes to author of testudo mod) to balance economy in late game
- Some extra scripts added to reinforce ai, handicap player later in campaign
- Roman faction preferred (with custom scenario scripts), but also all other faction playable (with default scenario)
- Added multiple scripts for Roman player: Carthaginian armies will spawn south of Alps and invade Italian Peninsula and Islands, Rome subjects will rebel, there will be difficult and dynamic first 50 turns in which Roman player will play just to save Rome indeed. Contrary to static default scenario.
- Multiple Punic wars option. After turn 180, peace deals are enabled between Rome and Carthage. Historically, wars between Rome and Carthage were not constant but interrupted by peace deals. Idea is that as Roman player you defend and conquer Italian Peninsula in first 180 turns, than have option to seek peace with Carthage until all others your enemies are crushed, and then to attack and conquer Carthage, similar as in real world scenario.
- New menu backgrounds
- No crazy ai doomstack spams
- Political actions overhauled, Sent Diplomat function disabled
- Adding +20 party loyalty on Legendary difficulty.
- Reduce effect of ramming for ships; in order to reduce destruction of AI armies by luring them on sea and ramming to sea bottom.
- Changed pace means campaign will be difficult on start, but it will be difficult late game too. For example, you can easily loose your campaign on turn 200!
- and much, much more added to gameplay to discover

CUSTOM SCRIPTED FEATURES (imported from TESTUDO MOD)

BEGINNER'S LUCK / TESTUDO TIMELINE:
A script that will make your life easier for the first part of the game (check pop up messages coming out every two years/24 turns). After some time the script will transform into penalties. Also, you'll get slight growing penalties to battle stats.
ECONOMY:
Scripted penalties to economical features depending on number of regions owned.
CIVIC:
Scripted penalties to civic features depending on number of regions owned.
ARMY PERCENTAGE AND CULTURE:
Simple script giving an effect to armies depending on region's majority/minority culture.

What is ANTIQUA LEGENDARY?
ANTIQUA LEGENDARY is a compilation of db and scripted features to make DEI more intense, realistic and playable on game most demanding difficulty - Legendary difficulty. ANTIQUA LEGENDARY leads to a slower, tactical and more realistic campaign with a prolonged "on-the-edge" experience. It could be considered a "DeI Hardcore submod" overhaul and refinement. There are a lot of changed and added features inside ANTIQUA LEGENDARY to make a Legendary campaign properly harder and slower but still playable and enjoyable.

Why ANTIQUA LEGENDARY?
For a customizable, more realistic, hard and slow DEI campaign. With ANTIQUA LEGENDARY it will be difficult to have large amounts of gold. You'll have to plan you investments even in late game. You'll have to pay attention to PO, food, growth, cutural, population and many more issues. It is more strategical and tactical while playing in stratmap. Notice that also AI is slower, so it won't send you tons of armies.

Why Legendary difficulty is reccommended for ANTIQUA LEGENDARY?
Because there is no normal save game on legendary and game is auto saved after you already made wrong move. So, the tension is greater, game is far more demanding, you have to be 100% in; Otherwise you'll loose. Nothing like other difficulty levels where you can easily return to previous turn if you do not like outcome. In ANTIQUA LEGENDARY AI is not crazy overpowered like on default DEI legendary, so there is some valid feeling or realism and fair game.

Big thanks to Jake Armitage, author of (abandoned) TESTUDO mod for allowing me to use TESTUDO parts. TESTUDO mod was inspiration and base for ANTIQUA LEGENDARY.

All Credits and thanks to DEI team for best TW mod.

If your game crashes on start please ensure you have DEI mod (all parts) activated and ANTIQUA LEGENDARY is loaded above of DEI.
Most user mods will not be compatible, especially if about difficulty, UI, economy or units, except graphic mods which are normally compatible with DEI.
Disclaimer:
- I had no time to long play this mod . Testing is to be done by players.
- Known bug: "Sons come of age" message. This is triggered by unknown game script. However, there is no effect on game beside annoying occasional message.

Updated for DEI 1.3.2.
Multiturn recruiting abandoned from this version.

I noticed DEI team is often updating main_unit table. In order for easier future updates, and to keep inline with default DEI main_unit table, multiturn recruiting is abandoned. Unit cost is slightly increased for player and AI, Navy recruitment cost is increased by 50%. Anyway I noticed AI has some issues with miltiturn recruiting, especially with navy recruiting.
All main updates for nomadic factions units is in main_unit table.

Game might not function properly in Grand Campaign (Antiqua Legendary for GC only) without updating (problem with nomadic factions and expanded nomadic rosters). Your previously saved campaigns, except Grand campaign should function properly after DEI 1.3.2 update.
