[partially old - update soon] MIC (Mod. Ion Chamber) EuroSpace

Description
The MIC class (Modular Ion Chamber) is a series of ships designed to act as a single ion chamber of changable size depending on need and budget. All its ships are characterised by strong reverse thrust to be able to stay at range, each going above 100m/s.

Cost:
Ion Wing ~125.000$
Ion Bat ~400.000$
Ion Crab ~700.000$
Ion Moth ~800.000$

I made a new version of the Frigate & Corvette designs of the MIC class. Link here:
Workshop file Ion Bat: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2885211807
Workshop file Ion Wing: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2885214516

The other ships will be updated relatively soon too.

I think spreading out your prisms is a big disadvantage. Your ion chamber is gonna become unnecessarily large and will be harder to protect, which cuts into your energy for shields or your speed with armor or both. If the enemy has chewed through your ship and can hit the ion chamber, you're dead anyway. Plus, most well made ion chambers I see today in the built-in ships also have them really close together. It just makes sense to build them that way.

im talking in general you want to spread out the prisms so that a hole ship is not destroyed even if its a ion chamber it will be destroyed and cant do anything if it survives it was something that people did in the demo and the ships where mush harder and vary unlikely to be killed unless a mush longer ranged weapon was in play. and as a returning player i could be wrong but distant i don't think weakens the beam but the prisms them self's this was in the demo tho

Absolutely amazing. I envy your talent. Thank you for sharing!

Thx for the feedback, but what do you mean by "prisms too close"? It's standard for ion chambers to blow up entirely, if one of their prisms explodes. Ion chambers in general want their prisms to be as close together as possible, both in order to make the ship frame smaller and to minimize damage losses due to beam travel distance, no?

The ships in the back are supposed to be fragile, because I want their formation to be fast in reverse. It should be pretty hard to flank them when they're going over 100m/s - though the Moth is a bit slower, but you can increase the distance between the bulwark ship and the beam feeders, however that does lead to damage loss. The enemy would have to invest a lot of their budget into thrust in order to flank and break the formation - which they might be able to do, since I'm not sure how cost effective these ships really are and thus how small/large the enemy budget will be.

vary cool idea but not practical for one all the ships except the moth have there prisms to close and can easy make a chain reaction and only one layer of shields just make them even more unpractical and for the moth a ship can just go behind and go Thur the gap vary hard to do that but can happen. im going to say this because people get the wrong impression not trying to say its not a good ship not fun nor everything like that i just wanted to say these weaknesses. some of my ships witch are not in the workshop yet are small and could take advantage of these weaknesses although hope you the best.

Thx. But I'm pretty sure everyone who's played a bit with prisms has thought of this at least once.

OK this is a really awesome idea

There is no mod. This is workshop item is a collection of blueprints, nothing more. You make it work by positioning your ships and right clicking on the ship you want to stay in a relative position to, holding down the button and dragging your ship to the desired location. No mods needed.

i don't see the mod in the workshop
