BIG FAT DISCLAIMER: this works, but it's wonky. Custom battles are mostly fine, campaign is weird. It will get updates soon and be in better shape, but this was made for a mod jam, so it was made in a very short time frame.

Please be patient.

Wait, what?

This is a mod made for Da Modding Den's Mod Jam 2022 5Y Anniversary event: Kill your Darlings.

"Your task with this Mod Jam is to take 10 days to desecrate something you love. Whether it's a character you like, an interesting piece of lore, a functioning mechanic - kill it. Make it unrecognizable, twisted, bad, or just wrong."

So, we did just that. Chaos Lizardmen is an overhaul mod for Kroq-Gar's faction giving him unique chaos variants of Lizardmen Classics. It has skinks, saurus, and even some lords and heroes for the glorious Gods of the Chaos Pantheon.

The initial release is functional, and future support and updates are planned. Currently the units are usable in custom battles, and the campaign will run. The campaign is not perfect, and it needs a lot more polish, but it is actively being worked on.

Author's Note (HvnterVMLV): We worked really hard on this in the 10 days. This mod started out as an idea for a simple reskin mod that quickly turned into something much bigger. Something so big we were warned against projects like this for a mod jam, but we took on the challenge anyway. I am really thankful for, and proud of, the mod authors who worked with me to make this happen. I am the person who published this mod, but this would never exist without my collaborators. Nanu and Ulrik really poured a lot of hard work into this and carried this to be something as big as it is.

Really ambitious projects are difficult, but really cool and satisfying. I pretty much was consumed by this project for 10 days straight, and it is a big relief to get it published, as messy as it may be. It did burn me out a little, so I am taking it a bit slower, but I hope to transform this into something even more remarkable as time goes on. I just had to get that all off my chest.

this looks awesome! unit cards are fabulous! but it is not working needs too be updated ctd on initial load please update

@amaury63895 really not worth rolling back to try to get it to work. It's like a fun little novelty to play around with in custom battles a few times, but it doesn't really work for campaign or anything. The bones are there, but it still needs a lot of work and hasn't been updated in many many many patches.

On release it very technically worked for campaign, but emphasis on "technically". It was mostly jam project and while not 100% completely abandoned I also am not sure if/when it realistically will be finished.

Crashes on game start, trying to rollback to previous patches to see if I can get it work. Love the look and idea, amazing!

It's less abandoned and more like "in limbo". I really just don't have the motivation to work on it, it's a gag mod that has some cool designs and concepts but ultimately it's a still shitpost made for a Mod Jam.

Eventually I will probably re-approach it. Something like this is so big that it's also really hard to do alone, it requires a lot of scripting, modeling, db work, everything. So, idk, part of this coming back to life also sorta depends on there being enough people willing to bring it back.

I've been keeping myself busy with other projecsts, and modding is a lot of work with no pay. I know Ulrik and Nanu both keep pretty busy with other cool projects, as well.

tl;dr EVENTUALLY it will come back, but right now no active plans.

Any updates on the state of this mod? I love the concept and design of this, and I'm wondering if updates are coming to it, because it seems to be abandoned

So, a few things. First, Trajann V (not Trojann) makes very neat mods that very well could fit with some of the themes of this mod. HOWEVER, I have not talked to said mod author about any collaborative efforts so I can't really make any further comment on such a thing at this time.

Secondly, to answer your question. How hard would it be? Yes.

Third, this mod already has a lot of stuff that really isn't fully implemented but technically exists within the mod that I'd want to get fixed, and I have way more things that are way higher on the list. It will get finished eventually, but when "eventually" is can be pretty hard to say at this point.

Glad you like the mod, but I'll be real this is a very very very rough cut of what the vision for the mod is. This is a WIP that got rushed out to meet a deadline because it was for a mod jam. Eventually I will have both the time AND energy to make it cooler, but for now it is what it is.

How hard would it be to mod in some of the units that Trojann has made for his Khorne collection? I want to combine your two amazing masterpieces but don't know much about modding.
