Haemati Empire

Description
A themed collection of 7 warships and 3 civilian ships.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Haemati Empire is a militaristic, authoritarian state founded by alien beings exiled from another galaxy.

The original Haemati Empire was a vast nation controlling much of its home galaxy. Though containing multiple species, it was entirely controlled by its namesake, a reptilian species possessing extremely long lifespans and prominent head crests that enable short-ranged telepathic abilities. However, it was entirely destroyed by a more powerful civilization, with the exception of five-hundred-thousand individuals in stasis aboard intergalactic colony ships constructed in a last-ditch effort to save the Haemati species.

Settling in fringe space, the exiles were immediately alarmed by the widespread human civilization, which they viewed as an existential threat. They concluded that the only way to ensure their long-term security was to bring the bulk of humanity under their control.

Ten years later, the Haemati Empire has conquered a sizable portion of fringe space. It is governed by the Imperial Conclave, a small council that selects its members from the top of the military and civilian government hierarchies. They stay, along with most other Haemati, in the Empire's core systems. Elsewhere, the Conclave's will is carried out almost entirely by humans, enforced by a combination of a harsh but consistent code of punishments and mind control of especially problematic individuals. Citizens are expected to work long and hard in relatively spartan conditions, but a robust education system and plentiful opportunities in the state industries ensure that actual poverty is rare.

The Haemati military is not powerful enough to directly challenge the major human factions, so the Conclave's strategy is more subtle; they task agents and expert propagandists with stirring up conflicts, arming and advising pirates, and enticing the galaxy's unfortunates to defect, in order to distract, fragment, and weaken human factions so that the Haemati can annex their outlying systems with minimal fighting. That they intend to eventually dominate the entire galaxy is a carefully-guarded secret.

Imp-pattern Corvette:
The "pygmy Fury" is not a very common sight, since the Fleet prefers the more capable Fury for all but the most minor assignments. Most either guard remote outposts or are seconded to the civil administration for police duties. Commanders of these vessels are either rookies or posted there as punisment, so their quality and style vary greatly.

Fury-pattern Frigate:
The first ship to use the "manta" hull form, the Fury is a rugged, versatile, and well-liked design produced in large numbers. They're sometimes used as fast-attack craft in fleet operations, but are usually assigned to the countless security tasks behind the lines.
$185,892
32 crew

Gargoyle-pattern Cruiser:
The state media calls these ships a brilliant design (just like every ship the Haemati Fleet operates), but they're very controversial among the Fleet brass. One camp sees them as an ideal supplement to both larger and smaller warships, while the other proposes that gluing two Furies together could produce the same capabilities for a lower cost, and therefore be slightly less foolish. The Conclave authorized a moderate number of ships, which satisfied no one.

Revanchist-pattern Cruiser:
A response to the criticism of the Gargoyle, the Revanchist pattern includes a pair of nuclear torpedo launchers in order to offer more armament than two Furies. However, despite being competent ships and generally well-liked by their crews, many senior officers oppose their construction due to the logistical challenges imposed by their special ammunition. The design's supporters managed to secure funding for a small number of ships nonetheless.

Quickdraw-pattern Weapon Carrier:
Slugging it out with a heavily-fortified space station tends to be a bloody affair. To avoid that sort of battle, the Fleet demanded a handful of dedicated siege specialists capable of attacking from beyond the range of missiles and other weapons. While they excel in that role, doctrine recommends that the precious few Quickdraws avoid ship-to-ship combat whenever possible.
$568,608
54 crew
57 m/s

Penumbra-pattern Cruiser:
Designed to replicate the Corona's success in a scaled-down form, the Penumbra pattern sits in the awkward position of being almost a capital ship. Between the difficulty of finding a role for them and persistent problems stemming from their over-ambitions power system, the ships were ill-recieved by the Fleet and only the trial batch of a handful of ships were ever built.
$713,900
92 crew

Corona-pattern Battleship:
Imperial propagandists love these ships, and it's hard to deny their symbolic value. That makes the civil administration happy. Of course, a big, sleek, high-tech warship that can cut things in half with a spectacular ion beam has substantial tactical value, so the military likes it as well. This unity between the two wings of Imperial goverment convinced the Conclave to build a moderate number of Coronas despite the cost, making them common by capital ship standards.
$1,293,020

Saucer-pattern Transport:
The Saucer pattern was made for efficiency: how much stuff can be moved by how few crew using how little hyperium? That informed its shape (optimized for hyperspatial performance), its lack of defensive armament, poor sublight speed, and overworked tiny crew. Naturally, state and private enterprises think it's a great design.
$117,300
4 crew
37 m/s

Lightning-pattern Transport:
The Lightning pattern was comissioned by the Fleet brass because they wanted a cargo ship that could keep up with warships. However, they're popular in the civilian sector as well, where they're used for swift deliveries and quickly transiting dangerous areas.
$146,000
10 crew
80 m/s

Scythe-pattern Extractor:
The unsung heroes of the Empire, Scythes can be found everywhere doing the dirty work of mining and salvage, both critical for the war industries. Some are operated by the Fleet, some by state industries, and some by private companies. The government ones are shifted between mining and salvage depending on needs; the latter can be macabre work and jarring for people used to cutting up rocks.

create the compensator class superubermegagiga dreadnought next.

No, this is just a set of ships.

So I did some AI-battles of your ships vs the EuroSpace collection to test both collections' battle-effectiveness. Thought it might be interesting for you to see the damage patterns, so here's a little slide show of the results.
General observations: Strength of shield setups seems to determine who wins and loses.
Placing ractors directly behind weapons that the AI tends to shoot is detrimental.
The AI will dodge nukes, if it has enough strafing capability.

I immediately fixed the moving walkway in the Gargoyle because it irritated me as soon as you pointed it out.
The hard-to-reach storages are reserve ammo stowage placed where there was excess space. They're set up to automatically replenish the ready racks between fights.

They're all very beautiful and have interesting patterns. Some of your logistics seem a bit inefficient, like with the very long walkways to those storage areas and some of your conveyors are incorrectly set up (some of them force your crew to walk a tile in reverse direction), but they should still be capable enemies to do battle with. Thx for uploading.
