[OLD! New link in description] Crab PD Corvette - EuroSpace

Description
[!!!] I made a Mark 2 of this ship with better thrust and more PD. Check it out here: [!!!]

Thx to Botlawson & chechsp for coming up with the name.

The Crab is a small vessel dedicated entirely to escorting larger ships in order to provide or assist with point defense. It aims to function with as few crew members as possible and while it is still less cost-effective than on-board point defense, it can be an affordable option for ships that cannot mount any PD themselves.

Speed: ~85m/s
Crew: 6
Price: ~114.000$

Leave a like, if you like. :)

(This ship requires precise crew assignments to function which are NOT copied over, if you paste it in career mode. Paste it in creative first, memorize or screenshot the assignments and then replicate them in career)

- Update 29/11/22: Reduced armor and made it slightly faster. New speed ~85m/s

Hmm. Could be that you're right.

That's clever. Though maybe it's better to switch them around, because stray shots that are aimed for the Luxemburg are more likely to hit from the side facing it, than the side facing away. No?

This is how I configured their formation:

Also, like I mentioned they're not identical, they're mirror images of each other for maximum self-protection since the more vulnerable side (the one not covered by the shield) is towards the Luxemburg.

Yep, that's probably the best solution for the Luxemburg. Though, I've noticed that if your PD ships fly a bit too far to the side in the formation, the PD will shoot, but miss much more bullets, because it has trouble leading the missle as it flies at an angle relative to the position of the PD. So on board PD that can shoot at missiles almost straight ahead have a significant advantage.

I created two ships that were mirror images of each other called Dexter and Sinister. They now flank my Luxemburg when going into battle. No more PD on the Luxemburg.
