Star Wars Republic Ships ARC-170 & V-Wing Strike Craft Replacer

In 1 collection by Superior General Delvardus
Star Wars Ships Official Submods
5 items
Description
Being requested by many, the ARC-170 and V-Wing have been added to the Star Wars Republic Shipsets. This simple submod enables their appearance as strike craft models. With this submod enabled, the V-19 Torrent is replaced by the V-Wing as the Fighter strike craft and the BTL-B Y-Wing is replaced by the ARC-170 as the Bomber strike craft.

Be sure to load this mod AFTER Star Wars Republic Ships in order for this mod to work properly. Also, before anyone asks, YES, this submod mod does also work for the NSC3 version of Star Wars Republic Ships and is also supported by the Empire Color Support submod as well!

The chaos of the 4.0 update and my busy real life schedule has not done wonders for my mod work, let's wait for the 4.1 update

Hello, are you still planning on releasing a version of this for the empire shipset? I really appreciate the work btw :)

This isn't the first time this has been suggested so I might just do that for the next update cycle when Stellaris 4.0 comes out.

Hi is it possible if you can create a mod similar to this for the empire shipset, maybe add tie interceptors or tie defenders?

@asae atez ampan Hello there! Sorry for the slow response, only now considering using this mod.after a break from the game

Yes I did have a look and saw that my comments weren't entirely accurate, or rather specific enough. I had been reading the wiki in the recent past to learn a bit but what was at the heart of my misunderstanding with the cruisers was that (apart from an apparent error with the wiki article) the way the Arquitens mostly appears in The Clone Wars, and largely has no appearances later in the main canonical shows and movies gives the impression that the older Arquitens and Acclamators were favoured initially, but the Venator quickly became the favoured choice for capital ship almost as soon as it was introduced during the war (The Venators as you know quickly became known as the "Jedi Cruisers" for that reason)

The Venators were first shown in Revenge of the Sith but retroactively added to episodes of The Clones Wars and other series airing after that. So if you just watch the older shows and movies (and don't see the entire article as you gloss through either) it looks as though there's hints towards the trend that certain ships will eventually be phased out in favour of newer models, though not entirely for some time.

Makes sense if Acclamators became outdated, they added bigger battleships during the war, and then they inspired the more modern Star Destroyer models. Perhaps "Phased-out" was a strong term even if my assertion on the Arquitens was accurate, which I will refer to next. What I stated suggested one was completely replaced with the other, instead of being seen as the new ship of choice, which was my intent.

But yes I can see in the appearances section that they served alongside each other all through the Clone Wars, and in the history section that both were used well into the regime.
While my chronological re-watch of the franchise mostly excludes the newer stuff apart from Mandolorian and Kenobi as yet, I hadn't noticed at the time that Moff Gideon's ship is apparently an Arquitens, or rather one of the Class 546 command cruisers. This appearance is referenced on the Wookiepedia article, but (and here's the article mistake I mentioned) it was omitted from the appearances section at the very end of it.

There's also a junior novel that has Leia get ambushed after Hoth by three of these refitted Arquitens, and that Elsbeth was escorted to Coruscant by a few of them while on board a proper Star Destroyer? But I'm also wondering how I'm expected to react to an apparent retcon and have known there was an error with the article as well - It's clear from the cruiser being scrapped on Bracca, Leia getting chased by Arquitens and Gideon getting a upscaled one, there's been a trend of newer entries retroactively adding republic-era starships into regular use/active service during the civil war, which makes sense but is news to someone returning to the franchise after EP VI to play catch up, and distinctly remembers these designs weren't depicted before The Phantom Menace. But were themselves added retroactively to act as the inspiration for the Civil War era ships. So hopefully that clears up what I meant there

But also true Torrent was phased out as I mentioned before, I just didn't know the reason why (in-universe lore reason was confirmed instead of pure design choice), so that stands,
And I could clarify in agreement with you that, yes, the ARCs were heavy fighters with multi-role, as opposed to using the more generic term "fighter" alone, but that would be splitting hairs on an already long comment ;) Only got as far as Fallen Order in the chronology but hope to pick this franchise up again soon, for now I will be getting ready for 4.0 and hopefully still being able to use these mods *fingers crossed* - Fun to discuss this, please let me know your thoughts!

You can tell I really want all the fighters can't you
