The chaos of the 4.0 update and my busy real life schedule has not done wonders for my mod work, let's wait for the 4.1 update
This isn't the first time this has been suggested so I might just do that for the next update cycle when Stellaris 4.0 comes out.
Yes I did have a look and saw that my comments weren't entirely accurate, or rather specific enough. I had been reading the wiki in the recent past to learn a bit but what was at the heart of my misunderstanding with the cruisers was that (apart from an apparent error with the wiki article) the way the Arquitens mostly appears in The Clone Wars, and largely has no appearances later in the main canonical shows and movies gives the impression that the older Arquitens and Acclamators were favoured initially, but the Venator quickly became the favoured choice for capital ship almost as soon as it was introduced during the war (The Venators as you know quickly became known as the "Jedi Cruisers" for that reason)
While my chronological re-watch of the franchise mostly excludes the newer stuff apart from Mandolorian and Kenobi as yet, I hadn't noticed at the time that Moff Gideon's ship is apparently an Arquitens, or rather one of the Class 546 command cruisers. This appearance is referenced on the Wookiepedia article, but (and here's the article mistake I mentioned) it was omitted from the appearances section at the very end of it.
And I could clarify in agreement with you that, yes, the ARCs were heavy fighters with multi-role, as opposed to using the more generic term "fighter" alone, but that would be splitting hairs on an already long comment ;) Only got as far as Fallen Order in the chronology but hope to pick this franchise up again soon, for now I will be getting ready for 4.0 and hopefully still being able to use these mods *fingers crossed* - Fun to discuss this, please let me know your thoughts!
You can tell I really want all the fighters can't you
V19 torrent got entirely replaced in the last year of the war by the Vving
Arquitens light cruiser was never phased out and remained in use up to and beyond the rise of the empire. The Venator filled it's own role as fleet cruiser/carrier and was seen on numerous occasions supported by the MUCH SMALLER light cruiser. THis was the most wrong statement of them all. That's like saying the ,mahan class destroyer got phased out in favor of the des moines class heavy cruiser even though they filled ENTIRELY different roles.
Aw man, I would have loved to have all three, though the prequel movies seem to show one fighter over the other, the V-Wings and ARCs were both fighters, and with the Y-Wing as their bomber of choice they all saw use right up to the end of the Clone Wars and even beyond.
But the Torrent/V-Wing switch, deffo still makes sense as they were perhaps quietly retconned or ignored in favour of the "rule of cool" as time went on, as opposed to the definite loreful phasing out of Arquitens cruisers in favour of the Venator, so this mod mostly helps for accuracy -
And gosh there's getting back into Star Wars and finding I didn't realise how many other troops and vehicle variants there are just for the Clone Wars alone that I'd love to see! I'm very into Star Wars again, going through Obi-Wan Kenobi for the 1st time rn
Maybe I can Bio-engineer some Amoeba Flagella myself? XD
Either way I'm super excited to play this mod, and sign up to defend the Republic!
Thank you for your work and for replying!
Sorry for the late response (I don't seem to be getting notifications regarding comments for some reason), but yes, they should replace those models.
@Twilight Sparkle If they are separate then the ones in Funnel's mod might remain as Torrents and Y-Wings, as they are a separate unit type called Starfighters and Bombers :D
Haven't played this mod yet to be sure but here's hoping for the both of us
Not with the way vanilla stellaris currently exists
OH! I read the desc wrong, I thought only half the mod was kicking in, I'll have to check the files and see why the models aren't updating (Though I would like V19s and ARC-170s as those are my favorites xD)
My bad!
I'm not quite sure I am understanding this. When this submod is being used you should get V-wings and ARC-170s and when it is not you should get V19s and Y-wings.
Basically, but also make sure that the mesh is also added in a gfx file as well
There is actually and quite frankly you don't even need this mod since the models are already in the base shipset. All this mod does is overwrite 1 file for those that don't want to get technical mess around with them themselves (especially since whatever changes people make are overwritten whenever I update these mods).
Basically just go into the "republic_01_entities_Strike_Craft" ASSET file in the republic ships mod and replace the fighter entity's "republic_v19_mesh" with "republic_ARC170_mesh".
Then go into the "republic_models_fighters" GFX file and remove the hashtags for the ARC-170 mesh so that the model actually loads (you won't have to do this step when I update to 3.8 as I am doing a bit of re-organization with all my sets).
Then I am unsure what is happening as the models are correctly replaced on my end
I assume you loaded this mod after Republic Ships right, and were using those Republic Ships as your selected ships?
Doesn't matter, so long as the colors is after the base mod (honestly, just load it after)
It will only work with my modded sets, that is how it's intended
Already works fine with the NSC version
Not quite sure what you are asking, this mod is meant simply to replace a couple of models in my shipset and that is it...
@Kenny Tachikawa
If there is enough demand for alternate models like there was in the case of the Republic strike craft, then sure! (though the CIS set already has the Vulture droid as it's fighter strike craft)
Yea, eventually
do you also plan a first order shipset ?
