Description

A very simple mod that changes how the “Malnutrition”-Hediff works.

Malnutrition now takes three times as long to reach maximum severity, but give ever stronger debuffs. Rather than just dying a quick death they slowly detoriate, suffering a slow, uncertain death... but maybe you want to keep the prisoners malnutritioned so their escape becomes very unlikely.

It also changes how the unconsciousness of malnutritioned pawns work, instead of falling unconscious upon reaching Extreme Malnutrition they now need gradually more rest. A pawn with Minor Malnutrition now needs 1.5 times as much rest as a regular pawn, a pawn with Extreme Malnutrition needs 6 times as much rest.

At Trivial Malnutrition, the pawn has trouble performing difficult tasks: researching and mining. They also become more suspectible to infections, slowing immunity gain speed.

At Minor Malnutrition, these tasks become even harder. They also start to become weaker at combat, getting knocked out sooner.

At Moderate Malnutrition, pawns become dizzy, slowing them down even at less demanding work.

At Severe Malnutrition, pawns will start falling unconscious from exhaustion much more often.

At Extreme Malnutrition, pawns have become even slower and weaker and they will fall unconscious frequently. At this point they might die randomly at any point, but might survive up to three days.

The mod works in 1.4 and 1.5 perfectly fine.

@The Bard Of Hearts thats why I use this mod with combination of Thirst from the mod (Dubs Bad Hygiene). For me personally it seems way too difficult to have a pawn die of thirst in 2 days and also possibly die of starvation in 2 days. This mod makes it little bit more logical.

@GodlyAnnihilator 1.6? Please? Or it works fine?

Yeah, but a 3 months in the game only takes 15 days... a year is 60 days. I don't think anyone can survive for half a year without food. As for water, water isn't really represented, you could be playing in the desert with no water at all. Personally, i've always seen it as the pawns get whatever moisture is needed from their "meals" and "nutrient paste". Without it, that timer gets significantly shorter, especially if you consider the first point at all.

It takes a more realistic take, think of it like this. If you start to get hungry and let it go like that for a day, you are not going to starve to death, you need way more time than that to even come close to starvation. Info tells that a person can go without food for a week, if the person has water, that can go on for 2-3 months until starvation, just with water. So you can understand that this mod takes that approach.

I know every dev hates suggestions (Bill Nye voice) BUT CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

severe malnutrition has possibility of causing lasting effects, mental or hediff. especially in children.

Hello. Firstly, thanks for all the mod work. I really like the idea behind this mod. Secondly, would it be at all possible to add an option or slider bar for just how long it takes to die of malnutrition? I like the effects and such, but it really almost feels too long. I seem to have had a raider with both legs blown off that has been starving for about a 1/4 of a year now.

Your description says its x3 the duration. Maybe x2 would be closer (in my opinion)?

If not, no worries. Again, thanks for being a code-monkey. (I used to been in an age long gone) Game on! :megamanjump:
