Fermented Milk

Description
Allows your dwarves to make alcoholic drinks by fermenting milk at a Still, using the Brewing labour. Probably similar to Inner Mongolian lai jiu, which is distilled to 40% ABV, since anything less would be undwarfly.

Note that this requires milk in barrels, not buckets, so there may be some delay between when the animals get milked and the milk becoming available for fermenting.

Non-Steam users can find it on DFFD as "[50.xx] Fermented Milk"!

-- Installation --

Subscribe here on the Workshop, or unpack into the DF mods folder if you're using the DFFD version, then enable the mod when generating a new world!

-- Compatibility --

This mod adds a new alcoholic drink material to the female caste of the following animals: donkey, horse, cow, sheep, pig, goat, water buffalo, reindeer, yak, llama, alpaca, kangaroo, purring maggot, 1 and 2-humped camels, and tapirs; it also adds a material reaction product to each of their milk definitions. It should be compatible with any mod that doesn't change their castes (or remove the creatures entirely).

See attached readme.txt to see how to add boozy milk to your own creatures!

No worries!

I found the issue; it was Niesmt's Base Resources. Somehow that messed removed the ability to make fermented milk in general. Sorry for the trouble

It definitely works with Advanced Agriculture, so it must be another mod conflicting, yeah. If the reaction doesn't even show up then the civ you're playing mustn't be getting it applied; are you playing a modded civ, or with a mod that replaces the default dwarves? Only they (and the humans) get access to it. Also, try moving Fermented Milk to the bottom of your mod load order (I should've suggested that off the bat XD).

It is in my game; the fermented milk appears when searched in the stockpile search. I'm not sure if it's another mod interfering with it or not, but something is wrong

I'm not able to reproduce this; I'm testing with the latest version of Fermented Milk, and Advanced Agriculture 3.11, and everything works fine. "Ferment drink from milk" should appear in the main task list in the still (immediately below "Extract from plants"). You can also check in Work Orders by searching for "Ferment"; if it doesn't appear at all then I can only guess that the mod wasn't enabled during worldgen.

It breaks it by removing the ability to actually ferment the milk from the still menu. When I open the menu to make fermented milk the option to do so doesn't appear

@Cactus I can't find anywhere that these two should conflict; they work fine together in testing here. Advanced Agriculture doesn't seem to modify milkable creatures at all (except removing it from some animal people).
Cactus 11 Mar @ 1:30pm
This isn't compatible with Advanced Agriculture, unfortunately

Currently just works with the animals listed under Compatibility, but the readme file explains how to add it to other creatures (if you're up for a bit of modding). :)

Does this work with Milkable Gorillas????
