Territorial Hippos and Wild Hogs (Now Featuring Elephants)

Description
Makes the mighty hippos, elephants, and wild hogs less of a pushover by removing their "BENIGN" tag and adding "PRONE_TO_RAGE." Now you know why you fear the hog.

This has the rare side effect of certain elf caravans bringing rude male elephants with them. I find it funny this way, but if it's enough of an issue I will make a sister mod.

Idea from an old post on the DF subreddit by Stained_Class. A long-standing tweak I've always particularly enjoyed, now in a convenient steam workshop format.

Should be compatible with any mod that does not also alter [WILD_BOAR] (creature_temperate_new.txt), [ELEPHANT] (creature_large_tropical.txt), or [HIPPO] (creature_large_riverlake.txt). Naturally, this means compatibility with total conversions like Genesis is not guaranteed.

I'm afraid this mod isn't loading on DF 50.10... it's been 10+ minutes frozen on the loading screen :/

And I'm REALLY worried, as this world I'm playing's got more than 10 fortresses already

sike, i'll do it now. I never found a reasonable solution to the musth issue either, in lieu of seasonal aggression mechanics, but in honor of dwarven legend of elephants being ill-spirited monsters, I simply gave the male caste [PRONE_TO_RAGE:1] after removing the creature's [BENIGN] tag.

Good call, and thanks for the tweak, one of my favorites. I'll update it tomorrow

I am Stained_Class, nice you made a mod out of my thread. I'd also at least remove the [BENIGN] tag to elephants.

Yes, they'll snap at nearby dwarves, maybe other animals, and according to the wiki the rage-state jacks up their strength temporarily.

What does prone to rage do? Does it just give them a chance to become berserk and actively seek out and attack dwarves?

Finally. Also, love picture.
