* Xenotype Pack - Sins of Gene City

Xenotype Pack - Spacers
This mod is contains xenotypes of humans engineered for life in orbital and interplanetary space stations.

Xenotypes

Astro

The first Astros were volunteers for servicing and maintaining critical inter-planetary infrastructure, requiring them to live and work in deep space for far longer than ordinary human biology can sustain. Thus they accepted a carefully researched set of artificial genes to allow them to live as normal a life as possible in the vast void.

Astros are resistant to toxins and radiation, and they need less nutrition than most humans, but they move slowly under normal gravity and need more sleep. They are completely hairless, and their photosynthetic skin can be any shade of green, orange, red, or gray.

M-Gen

The M-Gens (short for many-generation spacers) have lived in orbital space stations for over a hundred generations. In that time, they've evolved distinct traits by natural selection in such an artificial environment.

M-Gens very rarely get sick and quickly build immunity to disease. They tend to have calm dispositions and keen minds compatible with living one's entire life in a small crowded space. However, M-Gens suffer from a form of albinism that makes them sensitive to natural sunlight and their bones are less robust than the average human.

Syren

Originating from blackmarket gene-labs, the Syren were meant to be the ultimate social influencers, able to infiltrate high-society and be the face of criminal enterprises. However, the gene-set quickly became popular among celebrities and socialites who wanted to make their children as beautiful and popular as possible. A crack-down by law enforcement shutdown the producers of these gene-sets, but their legacy propagates with every generation.

Syren can slowly change their appearance over time, automatically becoming the epitome of beauty in whatever culture they live in, and they are unnaturally sensitive to the emotions of others. However, they were never meant to exist beyond the sterile world of cities and space stations, thus they are fragile and prone to disease.

Factions

The Fallen Stars
Not too long ago, a large passenger star ship full of spacers and stationeers made an emergency landing on this planet. Having failed to find a way off the planet, these former citizens of the stars have had to accept life on the ground (civil faction).

Scenarios

Fame & Misfortune
An interstellar space celebrity and their three handlers are stuck on some distant rim world after their private starship suffered a navigational error while on tour. They have money, lots of it, but not much else. A passing trader spotted their arrival and will come by in the morning to trade.

Right, yes, Astros were built for microgravity. That makes sense and is mentioned in the description which I swear I read fully and completely comprehended.

Have to say, I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who puts way too much thought into the lore and background of things in Rimworld.

Yes, I did put some thought into the numbers. Thank you for noticing, @LAJ-47FC9 (Liara)!

I was on the fence about whether M-Gens should have the fragile or pain sensitivity flaw, and I might switch fragile and pain with the Syren. The Astros were engineered to not suffer bone density loss in microgravity as part of the package to let them live a healthy life in deep space.

I was going to write a comment picking on a little niggle in one of the xenotype descriptions regarding generations, but I think M-Gens living in space for a hundred generations is actually about on point, given that the average human generation is about 20 to 30 years. Even if it's accidental, good job on the math!
Very neat mod, very much enjoy spacer types and I'm sad that we don't have many represented in xenotypes present in vanilla. My only recommendation is that I would give M-Gens and Astros the Delicate gene as well, to represent bone embrittlement from a lifetime of microgravity life. Maybe Strong Crafting to offset that, representing the technological acumen it'd take for folks to keep space stations going over time - all sorts of complex components to craft, after all. Either that, or leave it with a slightly higher metabolic efficiency, say that the lack of bone and muscle maintenance leaves metabolism free for other things.

I added a starting scenario where you are a spacer celebrity and their handlers who got lost while on an interstellar tour. You arrive hungover and with lots of money, but not much else. A random trader arrives on day 2.

Very creative mod, thanks.

There's a beta for Save Our Ship 2 and it's working so far as I can tell, you could probably build a extension based off that. Beta is on SoS2 page or you could also take it from their discord. A patch shouldn't conflict if other uses don't currently have the beta AFAIK

Updated! Now if you have Alpha Genes installed, Astros will be photosynthetic.

The official version of Save Our Ship has not updated to Rimworld 1.4, thus there is nothing I can do there.

Very well thought out and interesting
