FOB Evacuation

Description
Mission summary: sabotage equipment, locate missing ally (optional), exfil before helicopter departs or escape on foot.

An overconfident and questionable decision from the brass to place FOB Campbell a bit too close to enemy lines, outside the range of artillery or air support, has proven consequential; the garrison there now find themselves under a sustained and overwhelming assault from numerically superior enemy forces under cover of a sandstorm.
The FOB commander ordered a tactical retreat of the entire garrison via UH60 exfil shuttle runs, with anything of use to the enemy to be destroyed. As the resident Special Forces, you volunteered to man the defenses to allow the rest time to escape.
After successfully holding off the enemy for some time, inflicting considerable casualties for minimal losses, your radio informs you all the garrison have successfully evacuated, and the last shuttle is waiting for you at the helipad. You must sabotage your equipment and make a break for the helipad to escape.
Unfortunately, the radio also informs you of some bad news: one name on the evacuation roster has not been claimed, but it is unknown whether this is a clerical error from the chaotic exit; the bomb intended to destroy the ammo depot failed to detonate; and the helicopter is running low on fuel, with enemy AA inbound.

Therefore your mission is as follows:
1) Sabotage your equipment and the ammo depot
2) Find and rescue the missing allied unit (optional)
3) Reach the helicopter before they must dust off

If you fail to reach the helicopter in time, you instead have the option of using ordinance to breach the rear hesco barrier and escaping on foot, but this will be considerably more difficult.
Be aware, the longer you take to exfil, the more numerable and difficult enemy forces will become - time is of the essence!

Author's note: This intended play style is to follow infantry squad doctrine of utilising two fireteams, where one is a base of fire element while the other manoeuvres.
This is my first custom map, and an ambitious one at that, as I maxed out the entity limit. Any feedback or critique is greatly appreciated, especially regarding adjustment of difficulty!

Thanks for the heads up Phoenix, and happy to hear you dig it! I shall have a deep dive and see what the issue is - possibly because I have laid the evac and rescue zones on top of one another for convenience, might be conflicting. Shall update once fixed!

Extraction didn't work for me either, tried putting crew in the zone as well. Otherwise a great map. Love the dialogue on the tooltips to build a bit of immersion, wish more maps made use of being able to do this.

Glad you enjoyed it Ricardo! 152 kills and no deaths, I think all your Rangers deserve a MoH!

Japanese Denim - is it possible that you didn't put the UH60 crew into the zone too? As they come under your control once near them. Ideally I would have them permanently AI-controlled but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Understandably you might not want to play through just to check, but couldn't seem to replicate the bug myself.

OOF completed it with 9 rangers on first try, the fact that no one died was a fucking miracle ,one dude got hit like 10 times lol absolute madlad , was 5 seconds too late to the chopper and had to take the scenic route while under fire , total 152 kills, this mission is fucking WILD.

Great map concept and fun to play, but had a bug with the helo extraction not working, with all objectives fullfilled and all inside the zone

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, it should be a challenge but hopefully neither too easy or impossibly difficult?

Also, if anyone could confirm whether the fire effects actually appear on their map as they do in the thumbnail? As I'm just now realising that custom particle effects may not appear as they are not in the vanilla game files.. :steamsad:

Really cool map, managed to find the missing allied in the first run, but still lost 4 guys during the escort. Happy new year btw :steamthumbsup:
