because you choose "LEVEL SELECT" instead of playing a whole game or loading from save file; level select is for playing one level only

because developers released its source code on December 28, 2016. at this point making the game free was inevitable since everyone can build it themselves


there are no trading cards for free games. cards in Steam Market are from retail version activated via codes (aka purchased)

1) open the file

exit to main menu beforehand, difficulty applies once at level start


sorta. save the game, quit to main menu, change the difficulty, load the savefile
the new difficulty will be applied but you have to play the level from the start


four things are affected:

1. the number of enemies
   
2. enemies' reaction time
   
3. incoming damage (to you)
   
4. enemies' weapons (on hardest difficulty they use mostly auto-shotgun)

nope. play on easy to make things simpler

it is a Christmas event. if you don't want it or find annoying, then delete the following folder

yes, all content is the same. developers only changed the controls, fixed technical issues, added achievements and gamepad support

they did, however, remove level editor and cut online multiplayer support


only the achievements icons

originally, two achievements were featuring a full-fledged ♥♥♥♥♥ on their icons

in 2020 Valve updated their Guidelines for publishers to prevent the usage of full-frontal nudity in achievements, and Running With Scissors complied to the changes



yes. it always was non-interactive cutscene

download Postal Fan Patch (see that guide). it patches the final level to be playable so you can kill the kids

no. developers removed it because it is old and fixing the issues isn't worth. play Postal Redux if you need online multiplayer


that stuff still works


developers confirmed that Hamachi or other VPN-tunneling do not work for Postal

game was built using custom-made tools, it is just a proprietary noname engine created and used solely for Postal. developers call the engine "RSPiX" but you can equally call it "RWStitsmagic" and be correct


DragonUnPACKer[github.com] can unpack those files


Steam and GOG versions do not feature a level editor because the last update broke it

if you want to try out level editor then download original ISO-file and install (see useful links)

that isn't a versatile editor, you mostly allowed to change enemies placement and a few trigger zones, but creation of completely new levels requires extra tools like Python + Hoodcraft

check the guide by @Ender1645 below, if you want to create your own level but mind that the road will be bumpy

type the following codes during the gameplay to activate various cheats. there is no console or special fields where you need to type them - type them along as you play

if the code is typed correctly then The Postal Dude will quip a savvy remark

mind that since you are typing the cheats during the gameplay you may accidentally suicide yourself if press an assigned button. it would be wise to remap suicide to "V", "J" or "Q" since none of cheats use those letters

any cheat deactivates most achievements; the only achievements that still count regardless of cheating are cumulative one - Holes is holes , Peter North Would be Proud , Mickey and Mallory & Bulletstorm

the "THERESNOPLACELIKEOZ" (level skip) doesn't count as cheating and doesn't block achievement progress

thank you for downloading my Fan Patch for the best POSTAL game!
it brings some new features and fixing some annoying problems (most of them was unnoticed)

INSTALL:
extract files into main folder of your POSTAL game and run Postal_Fan_Patch.exe

NEW FEATURES:
- new cheats:
LOCON - grants you all weapons (even secret ones), makes you immortal and lets you skip levels by pressing F1 at any time.
HULKSMASH - opposite of MYTEAMOUSE cheat, may cause crash for some reason.
BURNBABYBURN - bursting everyone into flames.
?????? - grants you Desert Eagle
- ending school level is now live!! you can control Dude in this cutscene, you can walk around, kill kids or kill yourself - its your choice (♥♥♥♥ controversy, ♥♥♥♥ me, ♥♥♥♥ you, love you)
- new coat colors for Dude - Beta Skin, Postal 2 Skin, Postal 3 Skin, Postal 4 Skin, Not Important Skin
- you can switch on/off Christmas patch or Kid Mode at any time (switching a Christmas patch requires to restart a game)
- all unused Skins of pedestrians and enemies is now used
- new skins for SWAT and Military
- new skins for weapons
- skins for medkit, barrels, box, sentries (and many more) was taken from beta version
- new suicide
- sounds for bullet hit, grenade and molotov explosions from Postal 2
- Special Delivery levels is now using Redux music for cutscenes
- footsteps from Postal 2
- Dude now can jump
- enemies and victims screaming their last words upon being executed or dying
- random execution lines

FIXES:
- grenades, molotovs and mines is now in Dudes hands when selected
- intro music will not be interrupted by selecting any menu item
- removed score system for challenges mode is back (the main window is flickering but it works)
- fixed a bug when exiting all game modes except Postal brings you back to campaign menu without music. its still a thing for challenges mode (which is absolutely normal and handy) however music is still playing
- fixed state when peds getting freezed while being burned on the ground
- separate sounds for each weapon
- full parade music
- mines switching in the right order

CHANGES TO CLASSIC GAMEPLAY:
- duration of Dude on fire is now 8 sec instead of 5 - be careful
- HP of some enemies was reduced
- Nightmare difficulty is now much more difficult - 1 hit point for player, enemies are armed to teeth, good luck!!
- now you can run with shotgun
- machinegun was replaced with pistol (unlimited ammo, slower rate of fire)
- Deathwad and Double barrel can be found on single player levels now
- timed challenge levels cannot be skipped now

IN THE NEXT VERSION:
- if you obtained Deathwad you can activate it by pressing 6. Double barell - press 2 twice

NOT GONNA HAPPEN:
- removed Remote Mine
- editor (no no and no - download POSTAL CLASSIC from archive.org and use editor from there)

Air Force Base - restored Demon voice / placed Deathwad

The City - added two kids in park
EZ Mart - placed a Double barrel in gun shop, seller is armed with Double barrel
The Ghetto - kids is running away from church
The Mine - restored Demon voice / placed all 3 types of miners and female gunners (only 1 was used before)
Central Park - added guess who?? KIDS. i love kids
The Junk Yard - placed Dude in mine entrance (because its more logic)
School - moved one of these dirtbags in different place cs he's always getting stuck out of nothing
The Truckstop - car alarm is not playing from start - reach the car first

4) game doesn't support non-ASCII symbols in the filepath and Windows' account name. it means Postal cannot read letters like ы, ğ, ü, ś, and such - in that case rename your Windows profile[www.thewindowsclub.com]

5) disable Steam Cloud

6) disable antivirus or add Postal into exception

that will force Postal to launch the demo-mode every two seconds. during the demo AI plays by itself but all achievements' progress still counts, including for the "Holes is Holes"

leave PC for 2-3 hours. achievement is done

feel free to set both values to "1000" or "500" to make demo appear faster, but it can make the game less responsive and harder to quit

"Peter North Would be Proud" and "Mickey & Mallory" are two very similar achievements; worth to be grind together

see "Holes is Holes" achievement - its demo-method counts for those ones (but isn't efficient)

I wrote AutoHotKey script for those achievements:

1. download the archive[drive.google.com], unpack wherever you like
   
   password - Postal97
2. launch the file as admin
   
3. restore default controls, "set Suicide"to "Q"
   
4. start "Challenges" ➞ "The Gauntlet"
   
5. press "Z" to skip the current level
   
6. skip until you get to the "Have a Blast" level (fourth one)
   
7. press F9 to start script (and F10 to stop/kill it)
   
8. script automatically uses "GIMMEDAT" cheat (all weapons), the selects Auto-Shotgun and shoots enemies for 8sec, then switches to Flamethrower, burns whoever left alive (collateral damage), kills off The Postal Dude and starts a new
   
9. you can minimize the game and use your PC as usual, but mouse/buttons will be glitchy

script benchmark:
(there is a better script for Bulletstorm below but listing it here too)

the grindiest achievement in the game. even with the best setup (script) it still takes ~5h to complete

I wrote AutoHotKey script for that achievement:

4. start any level you like and kill all hostile targets
   
5. press F9 to start script (and F10 to stop/kill it)
   
6. script automatically uses "GIMMEDAT" cheat (all weapons), then selects Auto-Shotgun and shoots for 10sec. when ammo is out, it uses the cheat again and repeats the whole ordeal
   
7. you can minimize the game and use your PC as usual, but mouse/buttons will be glitchy

script benchmark:

for that achievement you must finish NORMAL game mode (original 16 levels) from the first level to the last one without letting any non-hostile targets (civilians and ostriches)

it doesn't matter WHO kills non-hostile targets, - you or enemies, - if a single noncombat is killed, the achievement is busted

SAVE at the start of each level. if non-hostile target was killed, then QUIT to main menu, LOAD savefile and START level again. DO NOT USE SUICIDE as it doesn't reset the kills

difficulty does not affect the achievements, so play on EASY to make your life simpler

"Parade of Disasters" and "The City" are the hardest level to beat without causalities

you don't need to kill all enemies on level, just kill the needed ratio, press F1 and move further. the amount of people left in the map does not matter either. avoid spawning unnecessary non-hostiles (like running close to their houses)

below are the number of non-hostile targets per missions:

the absolutely fastest and simplest way to get that achievement is to use "THERESNOPLACELIKEOZ" cheat. it skips the current level

just repeat that code at the start of each level and you will get the achievement in 2-3min

if you didn't use any weapons then you will get "AR is for Hunting" achievement for free

you can also use my savefiles for that achievement

2. copy required savefile into either:

you must also kill the targets that spawn at houses. before proceed to next level run around every building to double-sure that you spawned all targets and indeed killed everyone

you can use my savefiles for that achievement
