Description
This adds extra dairy products and categories for Mammals of Gluttony & Greed - Core.

*Update note: Small update to help mod ordering in the games' list and some renaming to facilitate a larger update that is in the works.

Mammals of Gluttony & Greed - Dairy

It adds in general categories for dairy products and also an increase in value for rare or hard to obtain milk and cheese and makes the list of dairy products in the game more readable, rather than tracking every individual creature. You can now get products like "exotic herbivore milk" and "luxury carnivore cheese".

My rule of thumb is that "exotic" dairy (x2 value) comes from giant creature variations, as just finding enough pasture for them to graze on can be a big problem, not to mention taming them (if you aren't extremely lucky and can get them on embark). "Luxury dairy (x3 value) comes from creatures that can generally only be milked once in their lifetime, so are arguably even harder to obtain than that of giant variants. Cavies and rabbits fall into the latter category.

Other than adding all domestic mammals to the list of milkable creatures (dogs, cats, cavies and rabbits), along with appropriately updated milking times, this mod only changes dairy products that are already obtainable in vanilla DF. Even with just four added creatures the list of products was getting pretty long, but these categories will become even more relevant if you are using some of my other creature expansions that add new dairy products. For reason's of balance and common sense the four new additions receive a 5x penalty to milk production compared to traditional dairy animals.

MOGG - Core is a requirement for this mod and this mod will be a requirement for any creature mods I release that add new milkable creatures.

Bugs

Not really a bug, but it's been pointed out to me that if you embark with a profile made without this mod installed that has milk or cheese in it, you will end up with it all becoming generic herbivore cheese/milk. Just pointing this out here to avoid any confusion. If anything it's an anti-bug as the mod is retroactively doing what it was designed to do.

Compatibility

Anything that relies on referencing a specific animal's milk or cheese will almost certainly not work properly with this. Other than that I can't think of anything obvious. The new dairy products are still all referenced with the generic milk reaction tags, so those should still work. Obviously anything that completely cuts out and replaces one of the same creatures won't work unless this is loaded after, but as long as none of the same tags (names, preferences and the milkable tag) are changed then this should still work if it is ordered lower in the mod list.

As always, there are no guarantees, but I would appreciate hearing of any incompatibilities so I can at least keep notes.

Compatible mods
Qev has kindly made a MOGG compatible version of their delicious Fermented Milk mod

Esoterica: Due to their size and the way DF limits milking to ticks rather than quantity, cavies and rabbits don't live long enough to be milked more than once.

Oh yes, sorry I should have made that clear, but I try to keep my update notes accurate, so if in doubt you can always check there for confirmation of bug fixes:

"Update: 13 Jan @ 3:08am
Edit
Fix - accidentally removed wool from animals that had it, leaving hair in its place. Many thanks to Cross Lament for the bug report."

so.... is it fixed?

I made a mistake and accidentally removed wool from sheep, alpacas and llamas. If it's any consolation, in my game I am also stuck with sheep "hair". I was worried it had meant that those animals were now useless for the wool industry, but surprisingly, you can make hair yarn from their hair, and everything else seems to continue to function normally as if it was wool.

Sorry about this, anyway though. There are a lot of subtle but significant tweaks going on at the same time with the mod, and as I am the main Q.A. tester, it is easy for something to fall through the cracks.

Hard to fault that logic to an extent, but I reckon tiger milk takes a particularly unique skill set to manage more than once. Not sure if I shouldn't add in some sort of minor injury chance just for cats.

As one famous hero said: "everyone who has nipples can be milked!"

Uploading mods can get tedious, so I'm taking brief break, however two different creature dairy mods are nearly finished and ready for upload. Don't worry, elephants haven't been forgotten.
