Description
This modifies the three largest land mammals and their giant variations in DF to the MOGG format.

Yes, I know this might seem a bit "silly" (although what does that mean in DF?) but for me this is more about realism, within the bounds of the game. Considering everything else DF simulates, why shouldn't giant rhinos be milkable? My rationale is that, within the limits of practicality, if you could do it in real life, you should be able to do it in DF.

All the usual changes; 4 unique preferences for each creature, accurate names and adjectives. It also adds a x3 metrial value multiplier for hippos. This seems fair to me as by many accounts they are the most dangerous animal in the world and both rhinoceroses and elephants get a x5 bonus in vanilla.

Due to the value multipliers, I have given each creature unique dairy names rather than the generic ones, so they stand out as being more special, otherwise all the normal MOGG - Dairy changes are default. For balance reasons, as with all my creature additions, there is a 5x penalty to milk production for non-traditional dairy mammals. This still means an elephant can produce about as much milk as a cow though, due it it's sheer size.

Compatibility:
This should hopefully work with anything that doesn't modify anything mentioned above. As always, no guarantees, but let me know if you notice any compatibility problems.

Possible updates:
I am wondering if the pet value for these creatures should be increased, especially elephants, as the others are all exotic pets so it is very rare to see them on embark. Either way 5 cheeses pretty much pays for an elephant or rhino and they can be milked quite often. The vanilla economy is so generous this is almost a moot point but ill leave this open and address it if any feedback leans that way.

Making hippo's deadlier is definitely on the cards. I'll have to go and do some hippo baiting and see how dangerous they are already. Removing their benign tag might be an option, but I suspect this might result in a lot of expeditions slaughtered on day 1 of a tropical embark.

I was wondering whether to allow war rhinoceroses, and after looking it up decided it was too far fetched; it was only upon testing that I realised war rhinos are already the vanilla setting.

Esoterica: The collective adjective for rhinoceroses is "ceratorhine"

@sethaf That's quite interesting to hear. Now you've mentioned this, I'll do some further reading, purely out of personal interest. It occurs to me, if you are deciding whether something gets the war trainable tag, it is always going to be pretty arbitrary. People trained elephants to war, often with the result that, whilst they were terrifying to see massed against you, they often lead to more friendly casualties than enemy ones.

@generallyoverwhelmednewbie Good point. Reading the previous comment I realised I was thinking of African black rhinos. I've just been experimenting with creature art, with the conclusion that I'd probably want to find an artist to collaborate with if I was going to add more rhino species, but if I did, I think that would definitely be somewhere on my creature to-do-list, along with elephants. Another example where one species has been domesticated for millennia, and the other, only briefly and not very successfully.

Part of it is there's more than 1 kind of rhino in the world, with different temperaments etc , tho DF mostly lumps similar critters into 1 species for simplicity's sake

As an example, asian elephants have been domesticated, but not african elephants

while rhinos are classified as ornary there are depictions in southeast asian temples of chariots been driven by rhinos. Also at the time there was rhinos in that place in asia. Its possible that peoples classifications in regard to domestication are BS.
