Is it possible to use it without medieval overhaul?

The 'Vambrace' item is just a glorified Gauntlet/Glove. It should be protecting the Arms area, not the hands and fingers. When properly update for 1.5 please see about this correction. Its rather frustrating that there are no arms dedicated protection armor.
