The 30 Floor Gauntlet

Description
2.0 UPDATE - Mod Config Menu support added!

Runs in this game have a number of divergent paths - Do you go down the main path or the alt path? Do you go to Cathedral or Sheol? Do you go to The Void or not? - but what if you didn't have to choose, and could do everything in the same run? This mod makes that idea a reality, taking you down a single path that includes every floor and every story boss, including the Ascent!

Differences
  • All of the points of divergence are replaced with a single path. E.g. after beating Basement II, you will be taken to Downpour I, instead of Caves I or Downpour II.
  • The alt path no longer requires resources to enter.
  • Instead of having a choice between The Polaroid and The Negative when you beat Mom, you will get The Polaroid in The Depths, and The Negative in Mausoleum.
  • Although fighting Mega Satan is mandatory, there is no need to hunt for the Key Pieces. You will be directly given Key Piece 1 after fighting ???, and Key Piece 2 after fighting The Lamb.
  • Collecting both of the Knife Pieces is mandatory. If you fight the boss before retrieving them, the trapdoor to the next floor will not appear, but it will spawn when you come back with the Knife Piece.
  • If you destroy the mirror on Downpour II before retrieving Knife Piece 1, it will have the same effect from outside the mirror world as it would do from inside it.
  • Quest items such as The Polaroid cannot be rerolled, destroyed or duplicated, unless you already have them in your inventory. (Key Pieces are fair game.)
  • Glowing Hourglass cannot be used to take you back to the previous floor.
  • At various points the level transition will be the Forget Me Now effect instead of usual trapdoor jumping or light ascension. This either connects floors which otherwise aren't connected, or prevents duplicate floor layouts.
  • Boss Rush on Depths II is mandatory; the trapdoor to the next floor will not spawn until you have beaten it, and the door to Boss Rush will always open regardless of how long you took to get there. By contrast the Boss Rush on Mausoleum II will never open.
  • In order to avoid being softlocked by you teleporting out of Boss Rush, a Grab Bag will always be present in the Boss Rush room. Picking up this Grab Bag will not yield any pickups, but it will start the Boss Rush.
  • You cannot use Sacrifice Rooms to skip to Dark Room. After your 11th sacrifice on any given floor, the spikes will disappear.
  • If you get to Dark Room with both Key Pieces collected already, you can't use them to open the door to Mega Satan early. You must still beat The Lamb.
  • Dad's Key cannot be used to open the Mega Satan door.

Skipping Floors

As this is a Gauntlet, all story bosses and divergences must be done. This means that items which allow you to skip floors work a little differently with this mod enabled, as do extra trapdoors which appear in Dirty Bedrooms, I AM ERROR rooms, Black Markets and the Genesis room:

  • If you're on the first floor of a 2 floor chapter, We Need To Go Deeper! and the Ehwaz rune will create trapdoors to the next floor as normal, and the special rooms which contain trapdoors will also be as normal.
  • If you're on a floor where you need to divert to the alt path or fight a story boss such as It Lives!, the shovel will instead create a crawl space, and the special rooms will give you a crawl space or teleporter back to the starting room.
  • On Depths II and Mausoleum II, the shovel will only create a crawl space, but after you've beaten Boss Rush/Mom's Heart, it can create a trapdoor to the next floor.
  • On Downpour II and Mines II, the shovel will give you trapdoors only after you've retrieved the floor's Knife Piece. Beforehand they will give you crawl spaces/teleporters/nothing.
  • On Mausoleum I, Downpour II (post Knife Piece 1) and Mines II (post Knife Piece 2), you can only use the shovel to create trapdoors in rooms which don't already have trapdoors, and can't have trapdoors/light beams spawned in them by the game.

Requirements / Tips
  • Repentance is required.
  • Will not work in Greed Mode, Challenges, or in the "LABY RNTH" special seed.
  • You must have unlocked The Polaroid and The Negative, and have beaten Hush 3 times to unlock the alt path.
  • If you haven't unlocked all of the floor variants, this mod may take you to them anyway.
  • Enabling this mod in the middle of a pre-existing non-Gauntlet run will work, but is not recommended.
  • Completion marks can be earned during a Gauntlet.
  • Running this at the same time as other mods which affect the order of floors is not recommended.
  • If you want to leave behind trinkets to turn into Cracked Keys (or leave behind Boss/Treasure items) in the Ascent, the floors you will revisit are: Mausoleum I, Depths I, Mines II, Caves I, Downpour II, and Basement I. You also revisit Mausoleum II, but that's the pre-Ascent version, not the pre-Corpse version.

Mod Config Menu Options!

Install Zamie's wonderful Mod Config Menu Pure mod and run it at the same time as The 30 Floor Gauntlet, and you'll gain access to some extra settings to customise your experience!

  • Difficulty: Is getting 30 floors worth of items making you so overpowered that it's not fun any more? Tweak this option to lock away Treasure Rooms and/or Shops, similar to Challenges. You can also set this option to "Off" to disable the effects of this mod entirely. Just remember that you can only disable or enable the mod this way before you've beaten the boss of the first floor (or at the very end, at Home). After that, you're locked in - but you can still change the difficulty, at any point outside the Ascent.
  • Ascent Treasure Rooms: If you've set the above option to include closed Treasure Rooms, you can toggle this to decide whether or not they'll become accessible again during the Ascent. Cannot be changed during the Ascent itself.
  • Require Boss Rush: With this set to "No", Boss Rush will no longer be a mandatory part of the run, and it will only be accessible if you beat the adjusted time limit of 35 minutes. However, you will still need to beat Mom to get to the next floor, as floor skips will be locked if you don't have The Polaroid. Cannot be changed on Depths II.
  • Require Knife Pieces: If you'd prefer a gauntlet without a mandatory trip to the mirror dimension or an escape from Mom's Shadow, set this to "No", and you can progress without them. Keep in mind that this setting will be locked when you reach Downpour II or XL. Also, if you complete part of the run with the mod fully disabled, and re-enable the mod before you have the maximum possible Knife Pieces for the current floor, this setting will automatically be changed to "No".
  • Alt Path Boss Rush: Find it silly that this mod doesn't let you do 2 Boss Rushes? Change this to "Enabled" and the Mausoleum Boss Rush will open, if you get there in under 50 minutes. Cannot be changed on Mausoleum II.
  • Mega Satan Coin Flip: Set this to "Enabled" if you want to leave it as a 50/50 chance for the run to end at Mega Satan and earn the Mega Satan completion mark, leave it as "No" to move to The Void automatically but not get the mark. (This setting is for Repentance only, as Repentance+ made the Void portal guaranteed.)
  • If you disable Mod Config Menu, your current settings will be retained for the rest of the current run, but they'll reset to their default values when you start a new one. Keep it enabled if you want to keep your custom settings!

@ папа луи : Well that's odd... treasure rooms should only be empty if you have it set that way in Mod Config Menu, and in that case you shouldn't be able to get in the treasure rooms the normal way (except in the ascent).

Could you share your seed, what other mods you're running, game version (Rep or Rep+), and - if you have it enabled - what your Mod Config Menu settings are? No worries if you don't want to, but without that information I won't be able to verify the issue or resolve it.

@ Freezing Time : Thanks! It wasn't crucial, but with it I was able to verify that the fix worked.

You're welcome, if you still need it - the seed is:V0H8J8KD

Oh wait, I think I actually know why that happened. When checking for the alt path door to remove it, the mod only checks the 4 door slots that can appear in a regular boss room, not the extras that can appear in a long boss room like the one in the screenshot. D'oh!

It's a simple fix though, I'll get an update out soon. Thank you for finding these issues!

@ Freezing Time : Very strange! Yes, if you still have it please do post the seed, and I'll see if I can reproduce.

Huh, then I was pretty lucky(or more like unlucky) to see this bug. But in my 3rd run I encountered another one, though here I don't have even the slightest idea what could have caused it https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3424886837
I haven't finished this one yet, so I can tell the seed and other stuff if needed

@ Freezing Time : Hey, thank you for looking into it from your side. I have a theory about what might have happened. The game tries to spawn the void portal in grid position 97 (the central prize position), but if that position is occupied - e.g by the player - then it spawns it somewhere else. The mod covers for at least the first 2 positions it will try, but if both positions are occupied (maybe one by the player, and another by Lamb's body?), then it will spawn in a 3rd location I hadn't accounted for. If the void portal appeared in a spot that seemed a bit weird, that would confirm it.

So if true I think this should only happen on rare occasions, but I'm going to see if the game is OK with me just checking every square in the room for void portals.

Okay.. So I played again with same mods as Maggy and nothing strange happened, huh

It was my first run with this mod, so when there was a portal to delirium I haven't thought much about it, thinking that probably Mega Satan was placed later or smth
