HK Mark 1 factory, 70s

Description
Description

A Mark I public factory block in Hong Kong, as it looked in the mid-to-late 1970s. Based on Chai Wan Factory Estate, with some details from similar blocks in Cheung Sha Wan and Tai Wo Hau Factory Estates.

Mark I public factory blocks were designed as flatted estates with intention to reprovision squatter factories and cottage workshops. These blocks are witnesses of the history of manufacturing in Hong Kong. All these blocks have been constructed between 1957 and 1961.

How to use it

1. The asset has everything embedded into it. Basically, just plop it.

2. The asset has several sub-buildings, and they face different directions (exactly like the actual building). So the asset requires road connections on at least 3 sides.

3. You will need Ploppable RICO Revisited mod to use this asset properly. It already comes with an XML with RICO settings.

4. You will also benefit from using the Loading Screen Mod Revisited with enabled Share textures, Share materials, and Share meshes options. This building shares assets with other buildings, and using this mod is supposed to reduce used memory.

5. The building is modular: the ground floor is commercial, the rest is residential. All commercial buildings generate noise, according to game mechanics. For that reason, you might want to install a noise-reducing mod, such as Game Anarchy mod.

6. The Sub-Buildings Tabs will also be helpful. It allows to see sub-buildings stats when a building with sub-buildings is selected.

Asset details

  • An industrial building with a commercial sub-building and a park roof.
  • 6x12 tiles.
  • Four colour variations: white, turquoise, dark-red, and orange.
  • Screenshots were made with Relight 2 Natural LUT.
  • Check the screenshots for MeshInfo details.

All the private assets now corrected... then I am absolutely subbing this one right now. Thank you.

That's great news...
Don't worry, being a former technician (until my health forced me to quit), I know all too well how tiny mistakes or oversights can screw up your day royally, especially if it is something you are very proficient in, but haven't done in a while...

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad time, I hope life treats you better at the moment.

@gpa1090 thank you! The past year was painful. Hope I can spend more time developing assets!

@Qa'Dar I've found the issue -- I wasn't careful enough when placing props on sub-buildins, and apparently the final building ended up with both local and workshop versions of props.

I think I have fixed that finally. At least, the LSM reports no longer mention any private assets or other warnings. My other buildings (at least reworked ones) don't seem to have this issue -- guess I was more careful back then, haha. Thank you once again!

Welcome back. It is good to see one of HK asset developer back in the Workshop!

No problem, you're welcome.
I would hate people unsubscribing silently...
It's such a nice asset.

That issue is new to me, nonetheless, if you need help testing, hit me with a pm!

@Qa'Dar, thank you!
Regarding the error message. It wasn't supposed to be that way - the props were supposed to be embedded with the building. I was testing the building with empty Assets folder and didn't see the issue. I'll take another look into it -- thank you for pointing that out!

It's not your fault at all... it's an asset editor issue, your own game (or LSM) will never throw that error for you... as for your game, and LSM, you do have the props.

I haven't tested your other assets, as I just now found this one, but there is a big chance many of them will have the same (undetectable to you) issue, costing your wonderful assets a lot of subs. (many players don't like lots of red "Workshop asset uses private asset" errors in LSM...)

To check for it without a lot of hassle, use the Load Order Tool and uncheck all local assets.
Then load your game using LSM, you'll be able to open the report to see the errors.

Nice building, I really love it!
Sadly, LSM throws an "Workshop asset uses private asset " error about the following props:

HK Cart E, HK Cement bag E, HK Glass showcase E, HK Industrial light E, HK Ladder E, HK Mark 2 block glass 2 E, HK Mark 2 block glass 3 E, HK Steel buckets E

You don't get that error because the game fetches the props from your hard drive...
The way to fix it it is to upload the props to the workshop, place the originals on an external drive (usb stick), and replace the original with the uploaded props.
