Chaotic invasion (More random and configurable invasions)

Description
This mod tries to make chaos invasion more chaotic and unpredictable.

You can now choose everything related to chaos invasion, from starting turn to level of armies, and of course locations.



During both stages, there can be several invasions, composed by any number of chaos, norsca and beastmen armies. Do you prefer really small and various invasions everywhere ? Or one large in middle of Empire ? Or maybe randomize everything and try to adapt ? This mod allows you to do that, and more.

This mod also adds 10 new possible locations. Some are simple (middle of seas, edge of the map), some are extreme (vortex, sylvania, empire...). You can select or unselect any location, so if you don't want an invasion somewhere just uncheck the corresponding setting.



This mod really needs MCT, or you will just have default settings. I've tried to make any option transparent as possible, with tooltip on use or additional informations. Every setting is important so you might want to read everything before starting a game. You also can change any setting while in game.

Please also note that chaos invasion difficulty setting is not used anymore, as you can choose the number of armies spawned. While chaos invasion is activated in game and in MCT, your settings will be used and won't be affected by difficulty.



Chaos invasion script is totally rewritten, but I've tried to do it well. So, this mod should be compatible with everything, the worst case might be some other mod changes on chaos invasion not applied. I've specially made this mod compatible with SFO, and load some minor changes on chaos invasion from SFO if SFO is active.

Not savegame compatible (can have various border effect, so I really advice you to start a new game. Might work in some case but nothing was done with this goal in mind.)

The game will be slow during first turn of every invasion stage, depending on settings choosed, you just have to wait. UI will also be slow, try not to open the declare war notification panel during these turn. Everything will be ok on next turn, but of course if you choose to spawn 200 armies, the game might not like it.



If something is not compatible or crash, tell me and I will try to fix it, if possible. Same if you need a new setting or a new location or if you find errors in messages, cause, as you can easily notice it, I'm not a native english speaker

I had a crash on end turn save on a campaign with chaos invasion turned off in the campaign launcher and in the MCM, resolved only upon removing the mod.

The crash log stated this error:
The instruction at 0x%p referenced memory at 0x%p. The memory could not be %s.

and this was the last function before the crash occured:
warhammer2!EMPIRECAMPAIGN::EPISODIC_RESTRICTIONS::override_ui+0xe4bd

Not sure if this is stil being looked at but it would be interesting to have a feature that allows you to pick which units will be spawned. For instance, Norsca would be an absolute nightmare if war mammoths stacks were spawned alongside the invasion

@Wry Cynic I'll try to see and add your new location when I get some time. I've tried to have several and interesting locations (with some "lore" in it), but I'm always open to new suggestions, ans I've tried to make adding a new location very simple. I just need, as always, some time.

@Jacubus You may have noticed, but steam has / have some problems since this evening. I advise you to wait tomorrow to retry, if the problem persists, tell me.

Mod is not visible on steam, direct download from steam do not work and subscribing on website do not download mod either. Did you forgot to upload files?

There is a setting, South Great Ocean, that does that you want, or i didn't understand.

Sorry, I didn't explain well enough - the Chaos army spawn coordinates on the campaign map for the South Great Ocean option are in the middle of the ocean (nearer the Galleon's Graveyard / Estalia).

I was asking whether they could spawn, in this option or in a separate option, closer to the south edge of the map (i.e. in the sea in between Lustria and Araby). The Norsca and Beastmen armies appear around this area. That, in my mind, would just make it more consistent with the Unknown Seas, Chaos Wastes and Naggaroth spawn locations, where the spawned armies appear at the edge of the map.

It was just a preference on my part. You've probably designed it with a certain way in mind, so by no means feel compelled to change it.

Thanks for the update - I've started a new campaign (I frequently restart either way), but it looks to have worked on my end in terms of the distribution of special characters with a quick test!

After tests, I confirm agents spawn in my game but only for chaos. It was by design in orginal invasion, so I kept it. Please note that agent location are totally random, and can spawn anywhere on the map, with any settings.

That explains it then! I have now seen agents in my campaign - I must have missed them prior, as I was looking at the army spawn points, which was my mistake.

If it isn't updated, try unsuscribe and suscribe again, Steam have some problems with updates sometimes. Thank you for your feedback !

Currently testing your mod through a couple of longer campaigns, just to see how it impacts on my modest mod list - I'll think about the stylistic suggestions!

Thank you mate and don't bother telling me if anything goes wrong in your campaign. I don't know if change i've made will impact your save, normally it won't but in any case maybe have a copy before.

Agents don't appear to spawn for me in my game, even when changing the minimum settings

After tests, I confirm agents spawn in my game but only for chaos. It was by design in orginal invasion, so I kept it. Please note that agent location are totally random, and can spawn anywhere on the map, with any settings. In fact, in original invasion, they can on some points anywhere on the map (something like 8 locations), I've just expand it to all the map, but I think it's cool to have agent anywhere. The only way to find these agents it's by logging, if you game is logging there will be a file, gam_log, that will contains positions of agents.

All of the Norsca invasion armies in my game lack a Lord (they have the skull portrait rather than a generic Norsca one), with their faction leaders represented by a portrait of Drycha. Does this happen to you?

It was a bug for some norscan invasions, normally it's ok now.

Ok so the mod will be updated this afternoon I guess. This is what I've found :

* Would it be possible to have an additional setting to Special character anywhere that distributes the Legendary Lords equally amongst four different invasions?.

Will be implemented like this : You will have a special setting, and character will be forced spawned in different invasion so if you 4 have invasions, you will find your idea. If there is more invasionit will be random but in different invasion for each character.

Would it be possible to have an additional South Great Ocean spawn where the sea meets the bottom edge of the map?

There is a setting, South Great Ocean, that does that you want, or i didn't understand.
