I had a crash on end turn save on a campaign with chaos invasion turned off in the campaign launcher and in the MCM, resolved only upon removing the mod.

The crash log stated this error:
The instruction at 0x%p referenced memory at 0x%p. The memory could not be %s.

and this was the last function before the crash occured:
warhammer2!EMPIRECAMPAIGN::EPISODIC_RESTRICTIONS::override_ui+0xe4bd

Not sure if this is stil being looked at but it would be interesting to have a feature that allows you to pick which units will be spawned. For instance, Norsca would be an absolute nightmare if war mammoths stacks were spawned alongside the invasion

@Wry Cynic I'll try to see and add your new location when I get some time. I've tried to have several and interesting locations (with some "lore" in it), but I'm always open to new suggestions, ans I've tried to make adding a new location very simple. I just need, as always, some time.

Ty again for your feedback, feel free to continue it's cool to try to enhance this mod.

Mod is not visible on steam, direct download from steam do not work and subscribing on website do not download mod either. Did you forgot to upload files?

There is a setting, South Great Ocean, that does that you want, or i didn't understand.

Sorry, I didn't explain well enough - the Chaos army spawn coordinates on the campaign map for the South Great Ocean option are in the middle of the ocean (nearer the Galleon's Graveyard / Estalia).

I was asking whether they could spawn, in this option or in a separate option, closer to the south edge of the map (i.e. in the sea in between Lustria and Araby). The Norsca and Beastmen armies appear around this area. That, in my mind, would just make it more consistent with the Unknown Seas, Chaos Wastes and Naggaroth spawn locations, where the spawned armies appear at the edge of the map.

It was just a preference on my part. You've probably designed it with a certain way in mind, so by no means feel compelled to change it.

Thanks for the update - I've started a new campaign (I frequently restart either way), but it looks to have worked on my end in terms of the distribution of special characters with a quick test!

After tests, I confirm agents spawn in my game but only for chaos. It was by design in orginal invasion, so I kept it. Please note that agent location are totally random, and can spawn anywhere on the map, with any settings.

That explains it then! I have now seen agents in my campaign - I must have missed them prior, as I was looking at the army spawn points, which was my mistake.

Thank you mate and don't bother telling me if anything goes wrong in your campaign. I don't know if change i've made will impact your save, normally it won't but in any case maybe have a copy before.

Agents don't appear to spawn for me in my game, even when changing the minimum settings

After tests, I confirm agents spawn in my game but only for chaos. It was by design in orginal invasion, so I kept it. Please note that agent location are totally random, and can spawn anywhere on the map, with any settings. In fact, in original invasion, they can on some points anywhere on the map (something like 8 locations), I've just expand it to all the map, but I think it's cool to have agent anywhere. The only way to find these agents it's by logging, if you game is logging there will be a file, gam_log, that will contains positions of agents.

All of the Norsca invasion armies in my game lack a Lord (they have the skull portrait rather than a generic Norsca one), with their faction leaders represented by a portrait of Drycha. Does this happen to you?

It was a bug for some norscan invasions, normally it's ok now.

Ok so the mod will be updated this afternoon I guess. This is what I've found :

* Would it be possible to have an additional setting to Special character anywhere that distributes the Legendary Lords equally amongst four different invasions?.

Will be implemented like this : You will have a special setting, and character will be forced spawned in different invasion so if you 4 have invasions, you will find your idea. If there is more invasionit will be random but in different invasion for each character.

Would it be possible to have an additional South Great Ocean spawn where the sea meets the bottom edge of the map?

There is a setting, South Great Ocean, that does that you want, or i didn't understand.

@Wry Cynic : Coming back from very long holidays as I very needed it, I'll see what you propose and bugs you have submitted when I got some times, maybe this week, maybe next.

For bugs, I need to see what happened, I might have forget somethings about norscan armies or agents, sounds very possible as my test wasn't focused on.

Also, your idea seems to be very doable, I'll just need to think about the code needed.
Second is of course possible, I will do it.

Oh, and some suggestions / requests, which you can take or leave!

I enjoy playing through an End Times scenario where Chaos appears at the four corners of the map (Chaos Wastes, Naggaroth, Lustria and Unknown Seas), but it'd be cool if these four invasions could have one WoC LL each.

* Would it be possible to have an additional South Great Ocean spawn where the sea meets the bottom edge of the map? I'd pick this over a Lustria spawn for the invasion, as it would make it seem like the Chaos Invasion is sailing up from the Southern Chaos Wastes rather than just appearing in Lustria.

I'm also very happy to suggest some stylistic edits to your flavour text to the Event notifications / intro messages (as a native English speaker).

Really great mod - adds lots of control over the Chaos Invasion that's pretty easy to get to grips with.

A few bugs I observed:

* Agents don't appear to spawn for me in my game, even when changing the minimum settings. Is the intended behaviour that they appear for each invasion spawn?

Yes, I was thinking that the MCT window could get cluttered too, hence writing "if it's feasible at all".
No worries, I appreciate you already adding the dwarf-option - this idea was just a bonus thing! :D:
Looking forward to your other ideas, and I hope to see this mod in WH3 too, later when it's less buggy and worth buying.

@Starlet, my principal problem with something like that is how to properly display it in MCT. My first version had something like 8 panels in MCT and it was really too much complex for anyone who just want to set a mod and launch a game.

Coding that would imply reconfiguration of the code so it's not that trivial, and If i would do that, i would do a submod or something like that to not make this mod too complex to set up.

I won't make any promise cause it's not easy to code and I need to have time to do it, but why not thinking to something like that one day. As the mod is clearly interesting people, I may want to think to it to add more in it (and I still have ideas that i originally wanted to do). The only thing i need is TIME :p

So if someday I take time to do it, I would think to your idea too !

I have a small suggestion (don't know if it's feasible at all or something you'd consider), but perhaps an option to pick specifically how many spawns one want per spawning location?
Like for example if you only want 1-5 armies to spawn in Naggaroth, but 10-15 in Karaz-A-Karak? (yes, I hate those dwarfs :P)
It sounds like it might involve a lot of coding though? *shrug*

I thought I'd ask in any case :D:

@Vollhov, I don't know. In TWW2 there is no chaos faction on campaign map at start. In TTW3 there is more than 10. I'm not sure the goal of the game is the same, but as I said, I really need to think about something for TWW3. It's just harder. Having a chaos invasion in TWW3 can really be a great mod but there is a lot of changes to do.

@Starlet Your're welcome mate, I hope the new invasion location is ok for you ! I've tried to target Karaz-A-Karak but also dwarves mountains, but I had not the time to test if it was enough or no !

With it, you can kill all the factions of Chaos, and then create an invasion like in TWW 2.
The only thing you will need to understand is which script to use in order for Archaon and other lords to appear in the army of chaos.

Also, my main concern with TWW2 was the poverty of the invasion system.
My main concern with TWW3 is the overall difficulty, the game is juste too easy and I may want to work on that

@Vollhov : The problem is that the system has totally changed in TWW3 and I'm still new to it. I'm currently thinking on a way to have a similar thing in TWW3, but it will be completely a new idea, and I need to find if expending Dynamic Disasters isn't a better way to do it.

I really need to think to something but it will be bigger than this mod so I need to do it well (and better understand TTW3 system). I will, but it will take time

If you ever update this mod again, would you mind adding an option (in MCT) for chaos invasions near Karaz-A-Karak please?
Almost every campaign ends up in them confederating all other dwarfs and owning like 50-75 regions. I think one optional invasion point there could stop them from doing that.

WH3 System is so much different that i'm not even sure it's would have a meaning to do that.

But there is a mod, Dynamic Disasters, which extends End Game Disaster and he is pretty cool. I may add some Disasters to it sometimes, I need to think to it and to take time to mod again.
But try Dynamic Disasters, it's very cool

Thanks! The game becomes more fun when you're able to configure the difficulty setting and the location of the invasions!
All I'm missing now is a feature where they leave behind portals in ruins, which in turn spawns additional armies after x amount of turns.

Ahah yes beastmen are quite powerful, in base game there was only 1 army so it's not balanced for ! And they have special spawns too, some can be quite spicy, like on Ulthuan, they can spawn in forest on the island

A good thing to note is that the Chaos armies aren't that bad to fight, but the beastmen armies are very powerful foes in battle, I wouldn't recommend to anyone else to put them higher than maybe 15?

@Gamergeo The Chaos invasion is a chaos tide, there's about 60 different armies in a queue to assault my castle right now, it's good battle experience, but it is hell :steamthumbsup:

@StalinChild Ahah yes take care, you have a number of invasion and a number of armies per invasion ! So if you choose 50 armies and 10 invasions... It could be hard !
Just to mention I've tried a lot to prevent the bug where AI can't handle too many armies. That's why you have several chaos / norscan / beastmen factions, and that's why it's really Total War if you choose this setting !
I'm really happy you like my mod mate, it's a pleasure to know that you have a good game thanks to it. With your settings, chaos invasion is the end of time :steamhappy:

@Gamergeo I've got to say I'm loving the campaign I'm playing this out on, currently I'm on turn 28 (and about 5 hours of gameplay in) as the dwarves and I'm barely holding on to dear life here, the entire world is already dead other than some skaven.

(For some retrospect, I did not thing "50 armies" meant that every chaos invasion was going to get 50 armies...)

All around one of the best mods I've ever downloaded for Warhammer 2

Thanks for your support mate, it really means something ! TWW2 was my first Total War, and damn, what a game ! But moreover, TWW2 is "finished", and in good state. I prefer to wait for TTW3 to be in same state (and money is a thing too, ofc).
But too much change on this game has killed some mods. And when I was looking for myself for an invasion mod, there was old mod which did the same things and I was thinking : what a great addition it could be to the game. I really hope this mod (and others, a lot of people are doing great mods even now) will add the cherry on the Total War cake !

If you need something, see any bugs or problems, feel free to comment here, modding can be really fun and enhancing a mod from player's feedbacks is a good way to have something pleasant for eveyone.

Im so happy that people are still modding this great game. Not everyone has a system that can run WH3, or at this point in my life afford the game itself. lol Thank you for working to keep this game fresh. Cheers to everyone still playing it. Total War games are supposed to live on, just look at Rome 2. DEI is still being updated.
