Halo 3 - Battle for Sidewinder

Description
Battle for Sidewinder is a short campaign map that takes place in the Halo 3 multiplayer map Avalanche. Fight against the Covenant for control of the Forerunner's secrets. The UNSC has sent Master Chief along with the Arbiter to establish a foothold in the unknown frosty lands of Sidewinder. Complete your mission and defeat any enemies that stand in your way.

Features:
- Fully scripted short campaign that takes place in the multiplayer map Avalanche.
- Semi-Randomized AI enemy waves.
- Playable in co-op with up to 4 players.


Known Issues:
- The map may crash during the first Phantom waves after reloading from a checkpoint, avoid reloading checkpoints during this part, or launch the map in one of the other Rally Points to skip the Phantom waves.

That's unfortunate. Crashing is a rare but known issue that I haven't figured out a way to fix it. The cause for kt seems to be when a checkpoint is reloaded during the first phantom section, you can either avoid reloading checkpoints during that part. Or starting the mission through a rally-point. There's a total of 3 (aside from the initial rallypoint), each rally point begins at a different part of the mission, so you can load the mission at the second part without having to redo the first part again.

Not great.

This level is somehow a "where the fuck do I go" kind of level despite how small it is.

The man cannons can leave you in the air longer than the fall timer allows for. The fall timer should have been extended to accommodate for this.

There was no reason to have that sentinel section at the beginning. The level has you go into the building, then you randomly get locked in there for an undisclosed amount of time. Get rid of this section entirely, it does nothing good for the level.

Pretty fun mod, it made me feel like I was taking part in a proper large-scale battle. My only complaint is the length of the scarab cutscene. It's cool to see it drop in, but it's pretty inconvenient to linger on it while I'm still being shot at.

balance needs work extract pelican got killed because my marines got oneshot out of the scorpions and the brutes took them. I cant fight a scorpion scarab wraith and fully geared out warthog all at once with just an assault rifle. theres a reason theres a fuckton of explosives during the storm and theres a reason the vehicles die when before the drivers do.

It's very rare for that to happen, but yeah it can happen if the physics get a bit wonky. Normally the Scarab shouldn't get stuck like that, but you can start the mission on the last rally point which skips all the way till the Scarab fight.

I really like these multiplayer maps turned campaign mission and Sidewinder's design really lends itself to a linear campaign level. The scarab is used nicely too. As other said, I was confused by the sentinel section at first and wasn't sure I wanted to finish it but I'm glad I did. Nice mod!

That's an unfortunate bug. Normally it shouldn't have happened. The game itself usually takes care of death loops like that by reloading to a previous checkpoint. Currently there's a temporary fix, if the ingame failsafe didn't end up triggering, the mission has rally points that skip over to different stages of the map.

I had an issue with the little cut scene for the scarab dropping, I still had enemies around me and kept dying while the camera cut away to show the scarab dropping. Don't know if i hit the trigger for the scarab too soon somehow? or if you could shorten the time that the camera cuts to the scarab? it did feel a bit long. Was a really fun little mission otherwise
