Sundamage Zone Resources Grabber Mod

Description
Hi. I needed a way to collect mined resource nuggets located inside the sundamage zone. This mod lets you insta-collect mined resource nuggets floating outside your ship when you're inside the sundamage zone, which would otherwise be impossible to obtain. I'm now sharing this mod with you.

Essentially similar to my Compacted Storages mod, this mod enables the building of tiny 1x1 storages containing 50, 8 or 1 of one type of raw material. You can construct and deconstruct these storages at will to either store, or release the stores resources.

You no longer need to send out your crew to pick the resources up. With this mod you can basically teleport the nuggets straight into your ship.

It works by constructing these storages in your ships while the resources are floating outside of your ship. As building also uses up resources ouside of your ship, resources inside of the sundamage zone will also be used up without the need to send out your crew (which when inside the sundamage zone will kill them).

This is not a perfect solution, but as far as I know it is literally the only way to grab these resources until the devs make the tractor beam work on resource nuggets (which is currently impossible).

Supported resources incluse Sulfur, Iron, Hyperium, Copper, Carbon, Tritanium, Uranium and Gold. Diamonds are also supported by this mod because there are multiple mods that add diamonds as a mineable resource to certain asteroids.

.

A separate tab is created by this mod in the build menu, so all these new storages are separated from the other buildables, so things stay more organized.

.

I made this mod because I wanted a way to extract resources from within the sundamage zone without needing to drag out the entire asteroid. So now you can take your sundiver in and find the nearest mineral rich asteroid, mine the asteroids using a mining laser and then basically teleport the resource nuggest into your ship by building these small storages. I didn't make this with the intention to be a full storage mod as my mod Compacted Long Term Storages does a better job. But Compacted Long Term Storages can only store larger amounts, so this mod was created to make grabbing resource nuggets insize the sun death zone possible.

This is a bit of a no frills mod, but it works perfectly for its intended purpose and all bugs should be ironed out by now.

@Kelloth: The mod only functions as described with crew construction disabled, but is still very much functional.
It functions in a similar way as the Compacted Long Term Storages do and this mod (along with its ETTM variant) are still being maintained :)

But perhaps the mod description could be updated to reflect this fact better.Thank you for your feedback.
It's just too bad that changing the profile pic is a royal pain.

might want to add 'obsolete' to the title as it really is nowdays. Just saying.

I was just joking im not assuming you are dumb

@Madeqan:
"have you heard of resource collectors"

Yes.
This mod was made in early 2023 before crew construction and way before resource collectors existed.

Back then this mod was literally the only way to be able to grab all the resources from the sundamage zone. Hence the name.

Please don't assume I'm dumb or something if you yourself don't even bother to check the release dates of this mod and of the resource collector.

Thank you for your feedback. My feedback shredder is already busy processing your feedback for filing into my one-way black hole permastorage.
Have a nice day.

Version 1.0.3 is now released. It changes nothing except the version numbers so the annoying popup doesn't appear anymore. This mod didn't need any other changes, however:

*** With the addition of crew construction, this mod will only work as advertised when crew construction is disabled! It can still be used to collect and store up to 50 resource nuggets though ***

@Mastermind99: Both these mods are nearly done now.
@entity.horsedung: It should still work, I was actively using it last night. But if it doesn't, I will fix it.

Tbh, there's very little that could break this mod (except for some major change to core gameplay mechanics which I doubt the devs will want to change) so I'd be surprised if it didn't work anymore.

still works ?

Regarding adding resources to Compacted Storages from other mod authors, I could but I'd probably need permission from them to do it. Personally I wouldn't mind doing it but I won't as long as I haven't been given the green light from the respective mod authors as I'd need to make use of some of their assets for the logos used for the storages.
In such a case I would probably create separate expansion mods as it would otherwise become impossible to maintain once I'd start making multiple mods featuring multiple resources from multiple mod authors :P

Concerning this mod and Extended Tech Tree Mod, I've been too busy with a mod featuring enemy ships which have upgraded ship systems from Extended Tech Tree Mod, adding the resources to this mod kinda fell to the backburner. But it would actually be a good idea. I'll put it on my todo list.
