Description


Emotion is a weakness that taints the mind. Millions have fallen pointlessly because they foolishly let their emotions cloud their judgment, whether it be for a false god, a loved one, or some other irrational excuse. We of the guild are above such ridiculous squabbles. It is impractical for mankind to constantly be at each other’s throats or to go off chasing such frivolous distractions as romance when there are far more important matters to attend to. We alone have the ability to think rationally and invent a better life for ourselves without having to rely on some fictitious deity to liberate us. By dedicating our lives to the attainment of knowledge, we can comprehend even the most extraordinary aspects of our existence, and all of humanity will benefit as a result. Alas, most humans act as if they were animals. Primitive beasts covered in wild, filthy hair and fighting to survive a savage world of their own creation, completely incapable of seeing the errors of their primitive ways. The unfortunate truth is that while all mankind was born with the ability to think intelligently, the vast majority lost it long ago.




The Engineers Institute is the third installation in my Empires of Old mod series. This series aims to expand upon RimWorld’s lore and introduce new alien civilizations to the game.

The guild is a strange group of outcasts that have cut themselves off from the outside world in their pursuit of knowledge. They shave themselves bald, willingly eat nutrient paste over other food, and abandon physical comforts to achieve peak efficiency. Most of the guild’s members live in isolated laboratories, toiling away until they pass away and their apprentice replaces them. For years, few outsiders knew or cared that the guild existed. However, the wealthy and irrational have begun to infiltrate the guild, making use of its advanced technology for warfare. Even worse, there are rumors that the overseer is a madman who intends to construct a spaceborne city!



The guild will use advanced weaponry and EMP technology in its attacks.




- 1 new empire faction.
- New royal titles and permits.
- New Royal Ascent, Deserter, and Royal Wimp quests.
- 1 new culture.
- 1090 real British names and some special ones.




This mod is compatible with CE and VFE – Empire. The new factions will not make use of the new royalty mechanics, such as the Great Hierarchy.

@Khleb Royalty affects many aspects of this mod. The mod does not function without it.

Does Royalty only affect whether you get the DLC events, and can be played without the DLC itself?

@FotosP68n If I remember correctly, it’s just the same ones as the vanilla empire but slightly edited for the new faction.

what permits does this mod add? would also be helpful to list the permits available in your other empires of old mods, BTW I love the series!

Seems to be an error in file Patch_Ideologies. You are adding allowed memes to a faction K4G_Fellowship, which is from a different mod of yours.

@阈限旅者 I have done nothing for CE compatibility. Any existing patches were done by the CE team. After skimming your log, it looks like their patch is a little bit outdated and missing some items.

Looks like an ambitious series!Can't wait to try this mod. But I used Empires of Old with CE and met some problems, not sure if this is CE team's problem.
