Ion Energy Converter

Description
Based on an idea by [E] Z_THETA_Z (UAS). Converts ion energy into normal energy.

(Some aspects differ because they are much easier to implement that way, and also I'm not good at spriting)

Parts
  • Ion Energy Siphon: Pulls energy from the ion beam crystal in front of it and produces batteries with it. Converts at 80% efficiency (e.g. for each unit of power used by the beam emitter, 0.8 units of power can be extracted)
  • Ion Beam Receiver: A specialized crystal that can only receive and hold ion energy.

That's pretty dope. I remember seeing builds that would loop a beam and then remove the emitter while the beam still existed, or prime a loop with another ship. It would be challenging and fun to try to do that with this mod, but it actually has a purpose other than looking cool.

If you use modded ion prisms that generate extra ion power (I've seen some that does like +25% per beam rather than -25%, for example), yes you can have infinite power by supplying beam emitters with siphons.
At that point, it's your decision. I'm not going to tell you what you are and aren't allowed to do in the game.

If I use a mod that gives better Ion Prisms, could I power a ship entirely off of THE BEAM?

Explosion effect strength is now capped at 100x. For reference, that's about the same explosion strength as the output prism of a 256-beam setup (with optimal merging) getting blown up.

Interesting. I'll look at how to cap the explosion effect to avoid overflow.

请问能关闭摧毁爆炸的效果吗?蓄能过多时被摧毁产生爆炸时游戏闪退报错了,我猜是过高的爆炸导致数值溢出。translation:Can you turn off the effect of destroying the explosion?When there is too much energy storage, when the component is destroyed and it explodes, the game will report an error. I guess it is too high explosion that leads to numerical overflow.
