HK416 is a German assault rifle adapted to the American AR-15 modular system, created by Heckler & Koch. Despite the outward resemblance to the M4 carbine, the mechanism of the machine is actually closer to the German H&K G36, and not to the AR-models of American rifles. Initially, the new weapon was supposed to be a replaceable module for installation on any launch box from the M4 or M16, but later full-fledged assault rifles appeared. The name HK416 means compatible with NATO magazines from M4 and M16. The last version of the machine called HK416A5. In addition, a version chambered for 7.62 × 51 mm - HK417, which is connected with the FN SCAR, is suitable. Accepted for use by the Bundeswehr under the definition of the G38 family.
