Description
THE CHARIOT VII

Chie and Tomoe from Persona 4 Arena Ultimax are now playable in P4AU, with some slight changes. I tried to make their gameplan as close to Persona 4 as possible, adding in special cancels, super cancels, the Persona Displacement System, and more.

SPECIALS

Neutral Special (Rampage)
A multihitting attack that drags the opponent with Chie's kicks. Once landed on the ground, press neutral special once more to activate Chie's follow up, Skull Cracker

Side Special (Herculean Strike)
Charge into the opponent with a rushing attack that moves Chie forward

Up Special (Dragon Kick)
Tomoe launches Chie in the air for a flying kick. High damage, usually used as a combo ender

Down Special (Black Spot)
Chie and Tomoe conjure a spell with their palms. Can be charged up to instead activate Doom Strike, which deals more damage and stuns the opponent for 2 seconds

EX MOVES [REQUIRES 25 METER]

EX Moves level up the previous versions of your special moves to have more applications, at the cost of 25 meter. They can be used as often as possible and follow the same rules as normal specials. Inputted by pressing the shield button on frames 1-3 of the appropriate special moves

EX Rampage
Consists of more hits, travels further than regular rampage, and does more damage

EX Skull Cracker
Lacks a knockback cap and sends at a more vertical angle for killing

EX Dragon Kick
Lacks the special falling property of regular Dragon Kick, allowing you to Dragon Kick or EX Dragon Kick afterwards. Also sends the opponent at a fixed 90 degree angle and turns Chie around for follow ups

EX Herculean Strike
Sends Chie a significantly further distance while dealing more damage than regular Herculean Strike. Is intangible for a few frames starting on frame 7

EX Doom Strike
Much stronger version of Black Spot, though it does not freeze the opponent.

SUPERS [REQUIRES 50 METER]

God's Hand (236236A)
Done with 2 quarter circles into an A press, Tomoe conjures a fist from the sky. Costs 50 meter and can deal a large amount of damage

Power Charge (236236B)
Done with 2 quarter circles into a B press, Chie powers up her damage to 1 of 3 levels. Level 1 deals 1.5x Damage, Level 2 deals 2x Damage, and Level 3 deals 3x Damage

ONE MORE [REQUIRES 50 METER]

After any successful hit, if the player presses the grab button with 50 meter, then Chie will be able to act immediately, regardless of how much lag is actually on the move

PERSONA DISPLACEMENT SYSTEM

Chie can summon Tomoe using Up Special, Down Special, Down Air, Dash Attack, Down Strong, Forward Strong, and Up Strong. Once summoned, Tomoe will stay in her initial position long after her attack ends, and will despawn after some time passes. Before she leaves, however, if you command Tomoe to input another attack, she will do so from the position originally summoned from, regardless of where Chie is located

GATLINGS

After many of Chie's normals and Persona attacks Chie is able to gatling into a Persona normal by pressing one of the direction buttons. If she presses forward + A she will input forward strong, if she presses down + A she will input down strong or down air, and if she presses up + A she will input dash attack. Use this to form new combos with the character on hit

DASH CANCELLING

After hitting a dash attack, forward tilt, or up tilt, Chie is now able to input forward > forward to cancel into a dash. This is a special animation that moves Chie forward, however you must wait a few frames before actually acting out of it. Use this to form new combos with the character on hit

FREEZE

The first hit of down strong applies Freeze, which applies a significant amount of hitstun on your opponent. This is indicated by the freeze effect and goes away once the opponent is hit again

THINGS TO NOTE

Down Strong and Dash Attack can both be jump cancelled on hit, while the rest of Chie's Persona attacks can be acted out of before Tomoe's final hit comes out

All of Chie's normals can be special cancelled by inputting a special after the final hit of any move

Chie's entire moveset (including Supers) can be super cancelled by inputting a super after landing any hit of any move. One can combine this with Power Charge's Roman Cancel esque properties to start combos from attacks that would normally lack the knockback to do so

Neutral Air can gatling into Up Air, and Forward Air can gatling into itself up to 3 times

Animations are great, but the character is too strong. Her neutral A ctravels across the whole stage and her strong attack have giant hitboxes. Perhaps it would help if she only summons Tomoe when the strong attack is fully charged (like Black Mage in SSF2). For her neutrals, perhaps remove the dash from her up A and make her stay in place dor her neutral A.
Ex Herculean strike can be comboed into regular Herculean Strike. I don't know if this was intended. Sometimes when I try to do an EX move I end up shielding because the window is so tight. You could make it so that Ex moves can also be used by shielding and then using the special within the first 3 frames, so that no matter which one of the two buttons you press first, you always get to use your Ex.
