If you are making clothing, for example, you can limit which fabrics are used. Such as not wasting Synthetic cloth on your T-shirts, when you have plenty of cotton.
My new suggestion would be... add the explanation you just gave me to the description above. I'm not the most observant sort, so maybe it's just me, but perhaps others have hit the same problem and given up on this tool rather than talk to you as I have done...
I'm not sure why using this would destroy resources that you don't want to though. Each recipe can be customized for the exact resource that you want to throw out, and survivors always prioritize the lowest durability resource.
When you select a recipe to destroy construction materials, for example, deselect everything except wood. Then it will destroy ONLY wood. It sounds like you are not doing that selection/deselection process.
Make this function the same as a crating station, except that instead of creating, it destroys, but with the same precise item selection, and quantity controls. Working on a category as it does right now tends to destroy things I want to keep and not get rid of things I want to trash. So for instance...
I have run out of storage space and see I have a stupid huge stockpile of wood. So I open your "crafting station" and select "Wood" as the item to work with, then...
Times :- and select how many of this resource to destroy, OR
Until :- and choose a cap for this resource. Any time this resource exceeds that number, it triggers a job to start bringing it this resource for destruction until amount is reduced to the cap, OR
Forever :- meaning to destroy ALL of this resource. Never use hay? Set Hay to "forever" and any you accidentally harvest will be destroyed. Or just use Until and set quantity to 0.
Happy to test this with you if you are interested.
If the mod is installed, you can construct a trash can in the game, and then use it.
