VFX Overhaul Test

Description
This mod aims to update the OHD bullet hits and explosive particle systems with a style that finds a balance between realism and cinematic. It takes inspiration from games like Squad, Hell Let loose, and the recent Battlefield games (e.g. BF3/4,BF1, BFV, etc.).

All Default OHD factions are given VFX alternatives that are set up with new bullet hits and explosive particles. To play them select any faction with '(VFX)' at the start of their name. You can play them on any map or any game mode to test out the new particle effects.

note: some effects are work in progress, so things are subject to change.

Credits: Some animation sprites, textures, material, and assets were pulled from BF2, Project Reality, Realistic Stater VFX pack vol.2 and Explosions all vol. 2 by FX CAT UA, Cinematic Explosions by CG Souls store and M5VFX vol.2 by M5VFX

Sorry for the delayed response, my day job is all consuming and i tend to get distracted. I don't have a road map or plan for this mod, out side of adding effects to more vehicles and factions as they get officially added to the game. I wasn't planning on adding blood splats but I know there was another mod that had them that my factions should work with. I don't know if that mod still works.

I'd be happy to add the effects for DLC factions, but I'm not sure I can until they are available in the official Mod kit. Unless you have a way of extracting them. I was considering looking into a way for making the mod files available for people to add to their factions if they wanted, but that may be more complicated then I think.

hey i added you. i'm willing to get you the new DLC for OHD if you wanted to add the new factions. It's hard for me to play the game without this mod :D great job and keep up the good work.

I was wondering if you have a roadmap for stuff you want to add to your mod . To bake my own request in this question, does that also contain blood spats on the walls, rocks and ground.

I pushed out a quick fix update. I had to remove all the old factions and update with new factions based on the core OHD ones. I haven't had a lot of time to test everything, but it seems to resolved any crashing issues. I'll be working on cleaning things up and polishing throughout the week. If there are any more issues or people notice any weapons not producing updated effects, let me know.

Sorry I had computer trouble this weekend, worried my SSD had crashed and I lost everything. But things are good and safe now. I will work to update the mod asap. If there are any issues let me know.

Thank you! - I saw the report, but didn't read it to the end that it complained about "VFX" component. All works now.

Just a heads up, I have noticed with today's update, that this mod crashes when using single player for me and my game. Don't know if anyone else is having this same issue. Awesome work on the mod, though!

Thanks man, really nice work here. Hoping it can become a mutator soon!

This game has so much potential overall, just needs to get up to speed with some of the more AAA features... hud, AI commands, etc.
