Fate of the Wayward

Description
A shipwreck strands the crew of a merchant vessel. This chance occurrence entangles them in events far larger than themselves.




From beginning to end, a campaign is (currently) 15 battles, with some branching that means you won't see all content on one run.

This campaign currently has three Chapters: the Prologue, Chapter 1, and Chapter 2.

The campaign features a Chapter Select when you start a new campaign! If you want to jump straight to Chapter 1 or 2, you can, and characters from earlier chapters will have their levels adjusted accordingly.

The campaign features strong language, especially in the Prologue. You have been warned.

Comments, criticism, and bug reports are all welcome! I am interested in any feedback, whether it is related to balance, writing, etc. If you have reached the end of Chapter 2, I would appreciate it if you could spend another 10-15 minutes filling out a feedback survey. I subscribed. Where is the campaign?

If you do not see the campaign after subscribing, try taking these steps (credit to Evolutionsgemüse for figuring out these steps for finding mods in the developer's previous game!):

1) Look up the SteamApps folder on the drive that has Together in Battle installed.

2) Search for TiB workshop folder. This is where all workshop subscriptions are saved:
"HardDrive"\Programs\SteamApps\workshop\content\1849820

3) In the folder "1849820" you'll find numbered folders. This is the content you have subscribed to. The folder for this campaign is numbered: 2807777733

4) Copy the folder "2807777733" into the "Custom Campaigns" folder, located here:
"HardDrive"\Users\User\Documents\my games\Together in Battle\Custom Campaigns

5) Now the campaign can be accessed from the "Open Campaign" button in the campaign editor, and should appear in your list when you select "New Game".


The campaign was updated, but I am not seeing the changes or new content.

If you are not seeing updates to the campaign, try un-subscribing and re-subscribing to the campaign. If this doesn't work, you may have to manually delete the campaign files before re-subscribing. Some people have reported this fixes the issue!

Hi there! I thought I would provide a quick update just before 1.0 of TiB drops. Work is still continuing, slowly. If you're really interested, you can see a few screenshots on the game's official Discord server for upcoming stuff. The biggest roadblock at the moment is settling on concepts for a few of the planned battles. I'm also focusing on a smaller project over the next couple weeks.

If you enjoy(ed) what is already released of Fate of the Wayward, the best way to speed things up is to offer feedback (writing feedback in particular is super helpful!) or giving a hand with testing unreleased content. I offer no promises, but I can see a world where Chapter 3 comes out within the next couple months. With help, that timeline becomes more likely. Either way, thanks for checking out Fate of the Wayward!

After probably too much time, the beginning of Chapter 3 of the campaign is released! At this time, Chapter 3 consists of several cutscenes and one large battle and can only be accessed through the chapter select; no carrying on Chapter 2 saves just yet. There are a few new mechanics and exciting features introduced in this short bit of Chapter 3, my favorite probably being new custom-made war banners (see Asset Credits thread)! You will be able to select one to represent your group on the field of battle.

I have also added a Story Recap button when starting a new campaign. Need a refresher on the story? Watch a brief cutscene for a previous chapter to remind you what is going on.

Feedback is invaluable, whether it is to tell me the writing sucks or to pitch ideas for banner designs. Hope you enjoy the update!

FYI: there was a bug in the game that unfortunately broke a few battles. This bug was fixed in today's 2.09 update, so hopefully things work now!

This mod is a port of a campaign I made in the developer's previous game, Telepath Tactics: Liberated. If you saw it there, this is functionally the same campaign. I've done a small amount of testing to make sure everything still works in TiB; if you encounter an issue, please let me know in the bug report discussion!

If you're working on a mod yourself, feel free to dissect the scripts to figure out how I did things, or even copy and paste; if you have questions, I will do my best to explain.
