Description
My take on the iconic V-2 rocket.

1,112 bricks.

It's an approximation, not a 1:1 replica.

The V-2 (Vergeltungswaffe 2 - "Vengeance Weapon 2"), was the world's first long-range guided ballistic missile. It was developed during WW2 in Germany as a "vengeance weapon" and assigned to attack Allied cities as retaliation for the Allied bombings of German cities. The V-2 rocket also became the first artificial object to travel into space by crossing the Kármán line (edge of space) with the vertical launch of MW 18014 on 20 June 1944.

From September 1944 until March 1945 some 3,172 V-2 rockets were fired at targets in Belgium, UK, France the Netherlands and even Germany with varying success, but when they hit their target they did a lot of damage to anything and anyone close to the impact.

The real thing was mainly launched from small roads hidden in the woods from mobile launch platforms, but I didn't have the energy to build the tow vehicle and the rather complex trailer and raising mechanism so a fixed launch site with two V-2:s will have to do.

My version of the V-2 needs a bit of human input to strike its target and are remote controlled instead of being self-guiding.

No Alt controls for rocket number 1, Alt controls for rocket number 2. Both launched from the driver's seat.
W: Launch rocket. *
A/D: Yaw.
Up/Down arrows: Pitch.
Left/Right arrows: Roll.
K/Hazard lights: Launch warning lights outside the bunker.

Cameras 1-3: Rocket 1.
Cameras 4-6: Rocket 2.

* The rocket engine will burn for 30 seconds and without any control input the missile is trimmed to fly to an altitude of approximately 1,900 meters in a ballistic arc in the direction away from the bunker and land about 5.2 km from the starting point (according to the Grid Map).
You can use the controls to make this distance longer or shorter and of course correct the course. The missile is quite controllable but will lose speed if too much controller input is used during its descent and thus lose some controllability as a result of the reduced effect of the control surfaces at lower speeds.
The minimum travel distance with full pitch down directly from launch is about 1,000 meters (about the length of the main runway on the City map airport).
