Description

This is a unofficial release of the rarely updated Media Player addon, the focus here is to keep the Media Player updated as possible. WITHOUT WARRANTY

Supported services

Here is a list of services that are officially supported here. Note that you need the x86-64 beta branch as a minimum requirement and also pay attention to the small asterisks (*)

YouTube with Ad-Blocker (Beta)
TikTok* (Beta)
Twitch*
SoundCloud (Beta)
Dailymotion*
Internet Archive*
Google Drive*
File URL (MP4*, WEBM, Audio, Images)
* These services require the GModPatchTool / CEF Codec Fix

How to set up (Basic)

If it is not set up properly, not a single page will work, as Garry's mod uses a very outdated browser engine called Awesomium to solve the problem, please follow these easy steps.

Close Garry's Mod
Right click Garry's Mod in library
Select "Properties"
Go to "BETAS" tab
Select drop-down menu "Chromium + 64-bit binaries"

Getting other services to work (Advanced)

So far only the basic services (YouTube, SoundCloud, ...) works with the Chromium branch, the other services need a patch that you make with an external program, this is needed to support more video formats and make livestream possible. Here you can find video instructions for your operating system: Windows, MacOS, Linux or Proton

Important Notes

Please uninstall the original addon by Sunabouzu, as it is not compatible with this version.
All rights go to the original addon creator and contributors over the years.
Long-term support for YouTube may be challenging due to ongoing technical changes by YouTube, which can lead to issues.
Local videos on the computer cannot be played, consider uploading it somewhere.
In some countries there may be strict censorship and sites may be completely blocked. This addon is not responsible for that.
TV Props addons are supposed to work

YES "Media Player - Extended Props" WILL WORK WITH THIS ADDON.

Issues

YouTube will not work with VPNs and will prompt you with the message “sign in to show you're not a Bot”. Add Garry's mod to the exception list (split tunneling) of your VPN clients, nothing else can be done about it.
YouTube will not be able to play age-restricted videos.
people report black or white screens, so far the cause is not known.
not all videos from tiktok will work.
LambdaPlayers is not compatible and never will be

@Shadowsun™ Tried that just now and it seemed to fix it, even after redownloading some of my other addons it works, I think it might've been a particular addon that has caused me problems with other addons in the past since i dont have it installed anymore and it's working just fine now

@Scout tf2, Make sure that you are nkt subscribed to the original addon, as this can lead to conflicts. Deactivate all add-ons for testing and leave only this one on.

Whenever I attempt to put a video URL into the media player and click "Search for media" an error comes up, the error is as follows

console doesnt provide any errors and doesnt print anything same with chat,i just choose yt video and press request url and nothing happens, i have only this addon and i am on chromium branch

@noob please provide a detail of how you are doing it, any console errors, console prints, chat prints, or any form of what might be happening so we can help you, we can help you much without details.

One thing it could be is conflicting content, please make sure you are not subbed to the original mediaplayer addon, and check other content you are subbed to, also make sure you are on the Chromium branch of gmod.

i have a little issue, when i request url, it isnt adding to the queue

@RubisDrake I will look into what can be done to solve the problem, but this is now what I don't have on my urgency scale. I only have one life and I have to prioritize
