aWARNING: Do not use this mod with Chat GPT Flavor Pack - Complete Edition, as it already has its own set of game balance changes. Anyway, this mod is a bit obsolete, as the changes in the Complete Edition are much better and less intrusive. Try it!


Hello from Brazil!

Introduction:
This mod is an attempt to rebalance the game to make certain features more interesting while still prioritizing compatibility. It achieves this by changing very few files.

Compatibility:
This mod changes very few files and is compatible with almost everything. It works fine with AGOT. Don't worry with loading order.

Recommendation:
For a better CK3 experience, try these two mods listed below.
  • Chat GPT Flavor Pack (Lots of new content with high roleplay and strategic value that is fully compatible with everything!)
  • Royal Court for Dukes (Courts for Dukes addressing the court language issue, plus reworked amenity costs/buffs)



Main Changes
  • Character Nerfs applied to every ruler to slower the game progress (lifestyle, fascination, gold costs, etc). Characters will no longer be all-knowing-sages by old age, nor cultures will reach late medieval age a century before historical dates, spoiling all the fun.
  • Completely reworked attribute modifiers. They are now more balanced. Characters can be versatile and still specialize in something. Powerful buffs like domain limit for stewardship and general opinion for diplomacy were diluted, and you won't suffer greater penalties for not investing in them.
  • Cultural Ethos now represent the true pillar of a culture, even impacting the AI ​​Personality.
  • Levies are slightly stronger, with bonuses related to Cultural Ethos.
  • Reworked education traits. They are now more relevant, negating penalties to the respective attribute.
  • Ranks/Tiers reworked to increase base domain limit.
  • Stewardship no longer gives domain limit.
Other Changes
  • Passive buff for dreadful rulers, as intimidated/cowed vassals pay more tax/levy.
  • Reworked Diplomatic Range, very short for counts and normal for emperors. Nordics and Nomads have their own buffs!
  • Added a passive defensive advantage on own territory for minor ranks.
  • Reworked Piety and Prestige level bonuses and maluses. They will strongly resonate with either Zealot or Glory Hound vassals.
  • Reworked Stress modifiers. Now they also give dread.
  • Reworked Debt Levels to simulate rulers throwing their prestige away to raise funds.
  • Debt years for hiring mercs have been raised. Better lose money and prestige than your titles!
  • Minor defines changes: to raise the number of children while lowering life expectancy.
  • Minor defines changes: More prestige from marriages and loot for raiding.
  • Minor defines changes: Warfare improvements for a better quality of life.
  • Some other minor define changes, background AI stuff...



Overwritten Files:
  • 00_basic_modifiers
  • 00_ethos



Conclusion:
It may seem complicated, but this is still a very simple mod that changes very few files and lines of text. The goal is to improve the game while maintaining compatibility with overhaul mods.

edit the defines txt in common/defines. Search for stewardship. Change the "99" to the number you like (vanilla is 6)

Would it be possible to have a game rule to turn stewardship changing domain limit back on? I play with the After the End mod, which has City-State governments, and one of the selling points of it is if you have really really high stewardship you can hold 2 counties, but this mod cuts that ability out. If its not possible to have it as a game rule, is there a file in the mod I could edit to have my current save game have dynamic domain limits back?

What does OPB mean?

I feel like you should merge some of these fantastic ideas into your current mod, but once again perhaps have it so you can enable/disable. I do not want to choose between these tweaks and your excellent event mod. I like what you have above there - the dread I am not sure why stress creates some but the vanilla game also seems to penalize me for not cheating in tournaments if I am ambitious and that's silly. You can be ambitious but honest, so maybe some of these traits etc. are open to interpretation
