Description
The Orca is a compact versatile combat vessel designed for upgrades. With armored wings, reinforcement around critical components, and compartmentalized systems, it's built to withstand catastrophic cascade explosions.

This ship took a couple months to design, refine, balance, and optimize. As my current ship in play, I've used it a lot, and been able to fix pain points. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Enhanced Protection: Armored wings and hull, along with recessed bridge provide a fortified protection. Even your 12 cannons are safer recessed within protective shroud; warding against anything but direct fire.

  • Adaptable for Atmospheric Combat: Outfit the Orca with up to 20 downward firing turrets, and an additional 12 turrets on the wings. It also features a dedicated "Bombardment Bridge" allowing unparalleled clarity and perspective on planetary POI targets.

  • Advanced Upgrades: The ship can be upgraded with the maximum allotment of Banks and Rechargers, and up to 4 Advanced Power Generators. Apart from using Arrays, the Orca can pack all of the upgrades in a surprisingly small vessel for its feature-class. All components are accessible.

  • Luxury Accommodations: Bring along a small vessel or two with its easy-access open-air landing pad, and space for a Repair Bay. Easy access to a teleporter, deconstruction & production facilities, and ample cargo space. As you brave the darkest reaches of space, you can relax in the finest accommodations, complete with a bedroom suite, bathroom, and kitchen. A full medical facility, and dedicated medical cabinet will be there in your time of need.

  • Endurance: On a full tank, the Orca boasts an impressive nearly 12-day 'Low Power Mode.' If you find yourself on a high-gravity planet, you'll have a lifting power of 1085 mega-newtons, and can feasibly exit the atmosphere of 4G planet under load. At 8.5 kt, the Orca has a cargo capacity of 2.7 Million Liters.

The landing pad was designed to fit medium sized SVs, such as the Deva or Hauler (as pictured above).

Glad you like it! The Orca my favorite, but was designed for RE1, so it hasn’t been adapted to the changes introduced in RE2. Much like the Deva, it will need a rework to align with the new CPU and power systems. That said, some players are still finding ways to make it work (such as putting them in the power or shield rooms, or replacing cargo extenders in the walls). Thanks again for the kind words; I appreciate it!

Nice Ship really love it!
i have 1 thing to notice.
were you put the Superior CPU extenders?
These are square's and not straight.

please explain because now i have to extend the nose with 1 blok.
beside that i love the ships you make!

First time using this ship, and let me just say, as a solo player, i am absolutely loving this ship. Also, i'm playing RE2. so far everything seems to be working perfectly.

@Jibier: All of the ships I've designed are done so for Reforged Eden scenario. You can see this noted in the "Required Items" list on the right of the description. Although I would like to make it viable for Vanilla, I simply haven't played vanilla enough to do it justice. The parts chosen have been carefully chosen to bring it within the 2.1 million CPU limit easily obtained in that scenario. If you haven't tried it, I do highly recommend Reforged Eden.

I fr like the overall design of this ship, however when I tested it the cpu limit went over 4m which is over the maximum. I'm eager to craft this but is there anyway to fix this

Oh man, what a beauty. Great job buddy.

@Purelukk: Thank you! The upgrade slots for the computer room are denoted by the white marks on the floor and walls. To clarify, I've added a new before & after image to the end of the description page to showcase what that looks like. You don't have to remove anything from the walls, there's space there for those components.

As for the 3.9G planet, I'm not sure if things have changed. I've been off the game for a bit, however, I can say that according to the chart, the ship should be able to take off with only 10% cargo filled (in the case of copper). Any higher and it will ground you. Also be aware that any ships you have parked on the vessel will add to the weight the thrusters need to lift. Finally, the Orca's biggest thrust will come from its rear engines, (not the vertical thrusters). If you want to maximize takeoff thrust, aim straight up with your rear thrusters (or angle up at 45 degrees).

Love the ship, love the presentation. Really well done all around!
I am using it as a heavy armed miner

Had some trouble finding all 10 upgrade slots on each side of the core room. Did you intend for some of the LCD's to be removed up in the ceiling access to make room for quants etc.?

Also not sure whats up with the 4g, have some of the values been tweaked or something?

I took it down on a 3.9 g planet and had to take everything out of the ship including 99% of the fuel and it still wouldn't budge.

However two drive thrusters fit perfectly in between the two "nacells" on each side so i just keep those with me along with a spare gen.

Great compact ship.
Looking forward to trying out the bombardment bridge.

I will build an Orca for my son, he will be happy to have his own CV ;-) I like the design and the work you put into the details and presentation of it. That spreadsheet would be nice...

@DarkFlash: I created a spreadsheet with (nearly) all of the parts in Empyrion for the purpose of identifying how much thrust, CPU, power, mass (etc) would be required to make a viable vessel. The complexity of the spreadsheet has grown over months of creating the ship, and ship summaries (with graphs) were one of the handy benefits. I'd like to release it for the wider community of designers to use, but I haven't finished it yet.
