It's a great honor to continue this mod; I have permission from Smash Phil to use the textures and re-create the mod using the Vehicle Framework. As VF is the successor to and descendant of "Boats", it seems appropriate to re-constitute the boats using the new framework. All credit to Smash Phil for the original mod, the new framework, and his continuing efforts!

Boats:
Galleon - requires Smithing research, will eventually have turrets (cannons)
Caravel - requires Smithing research, will eventually have turrets (cannons)
Paddle Steamer - requires Machining research, large cargo capacity
Fishing Boat
Rowboat - seats 3 pawns

Please note: Currently you cannot create boat caravans on a river, only when in contact with the sea. I believe this is a limitation of the framework as I can duplicate the issue with Vanilla Vehicles Expanded boats.

THIS MOD IS HEAVILY WORK-IN-PROGRESS. There is more to be done but I wanted to get this out there. Boat stats and functionality are subject to change. Some pawn offsets and draw sizes may need to be adjusted. Turrets will be coming to some boats in a later update. All suggestions welcome. If you can't be constructive and polite, though, expect me to treat you with the contempt you probably deserve. :D

Yes, when Vehicle Framework is officially updated to 1.6. I will work back on reported issues at that time as well.

Is this still being updated? Theres been no updates in almost a year and people are complaining that the caravans cant make it off the boats?

Do not use this mod until it has been updated. As others have pointed out, your caravan can leave your colony but cannot interact with its destination.

I'm having an issue where I can't get pawns to split from the caravan after we've made landfall. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I can't leave with the boat, I'm on an island and the boat has access out but every time I try to set a caravan the pawns immediately go back to what they were doing before. It tells me that they are getting ready in the corner note but they never start.

Don't think this works for 1.4 anymore. Boats can be loaded and sent out, but you can't land on empty zones. You have to land on occupied spaces, and from there, when you return to base you are unable to move your full caravan as it's stuck without a clear path to move, even if there is one. This has been my experience, anyone getting this to work as intended?
