Block's Death Effects

Block's Death Effects is a small mod which revolves around the common occurrence in Terraria that is death. This mod seeks to make this... experience, I guess... more comedic by adding in an array of death noises and visuals to the game. Read on for a list of features:

Death Sound Effects (DSEs):
Unlike resource packs, which are limited to a single replacement at a time, mods such as this one can take things a step farther and randomly play from a selection of sounds so you get something new and unexpected each time you die.
  • There are currently 140 new death sound effects, chosen at random
  • Normally these only play on player deaths, but there is also Taunt feature which can be assigned to a keybind or activated manually with an item

Death Visual Effects (DVFXs):
Block's Death Effects also distinguishes itself by also offering death visuals! You can now enjoy a selection of fun little visual effects at random.
  • There are currently 10 death visual effects, also chosen randomly
  • Note that these are exclusive to player deaths and cannot occur via. other means (Taunting, etc.)

Configuration:
Block's Death Effects attempts to set itself apart from similar mods by offering extensive config options, including:
  • Individual toggles for ALL DSEs and DVFXs
  • Adjustable sound volume, pitch, and max instances
  • Toggle hearing sounds from other players' deaths
  • Make DSEs hear-able across great distances
  • Make multiple DSEs play per death/taunt

Other Features:
  • Killbinding: An item and/or keybind can be used to self-destruct
  • Enemy noises: Bosses and/or all enemies can also play death noises (Togglable; defaults to off in config)

Open Source
  • This mod is open-source under the GNU GPLv3 license. In short, you’re allowed to view and utilize code from the source if you’d like, but if you want to publish any work you did with it, that project will have to use the same license (GNU GPLv3). The mod's LICENSE file contains the full details of terms and conditions, etc.
  • You can access the source-code using tML's extract function (Found in-game on the mod's More Info page in your Mods List).

Final notes:
  • Sound warning! A few DSEs may be loud, you may want to turn the volume down beforehand. Headphones users beware!
  • Shoutout to Rolf and the DSE collection he has assembled on the (vanilla) Terraria Steam Workshop; a lot of DSEs come from there!
  • All rights, credits, etc. go to the respective owners of the sound effects in this mod. I take no credit for any of these noises; just here for the funnies.
  • Have fun! If this mod successfully fulfills its purpose, you should get some laughs from unexpected death sounds, or at the very least, rage less when you die to a boss or something.

@BlockCrusader Man... Yeah it seemed to be the case, it's the Authentic Races mod, which I love to use. It also makes regular Terraria packs that change death sounds not work. I doubt there's a way to remove its ability to force the sound, and if you don't know what I could do, that's fine, it's not a huge deal, the modded sounds still play anyway. Thanks for the knowledge though!

@Syl700, it's possible for mods to force it if they mess with death-related hooks, so that's the most likely cause if it's only affecting actual deaths but not taunts.
As far as I know GFB's custom death noise shouldn't be a problem?

For whatever reason, the normal player DSE still plays despite the mod having it off. I do know some of the custom DSEs play the vanilla DSE, but this one is on top of those, and is notably not there with the taunt button. I don't know if any mods would force it, only resource packs or mods that affect sound doesn't touch the DSE (I removed them and checked). any insight on what could be causing it? Legendary mod though :reheart:

@DolphinCube, not really; every few months I sometimes - on a whim - just add a couple sounds I chanced upon, but that's it.
Someone made an unofficial suggestions thread already; you're free to leave suggestions there, but to be perfectly honest it's really unlikely they'll get added.

@BlockCrusader Wait is this mod still being worked on? Can there be a offical (or take a look at the unofficial) request thread?

@a bucket. Yes, in the mod's config you can toggle every sound effect individually.

Near the bottom there are presets for turning all sounds on/off at once. If you want just one sound, I'd use the presets to turn them all off, and then turn the metal pipe back on.

Is there a way to disable certain sounds? i want every death sound to be metal pipe.

Yeah it looks like the toggles for a bunch of the death sounds are mixed up (I.e. the toggle for a given sound is toggling a different sound and not the one it's supposed to). I'll fix that when I get the chance.

@Soggy Butter, it's something I'd have to fix on my end. I probably accidentally made the Roblox Oof get toggled by the wrong config toggle, or forgot to implement the functionality of its toggle.

well if its a bug how do i go about fixing it
