Description
Do you find it weird how pawns directly build power cables out of a single piece of steel on the bare ground in under a second ? Do you wish to run a wiring/pipe theft operation? Do you just desire to make your game slightly more complex for masochistic reasons? Well! Look no further!

I offer you Cables and plumbing, inspired by the mountains of utilities sitting in my storage in Prison Architect and my will to make the game slightly more complex. (not for masochistic reasons, unlike you)

Cables and plumbing adds two new items, all in the manufactured category:
- Electrical cables
- Pipes

And that's it!

Electrical cables can be made at the crafting spot, after unlocking electricity, from steel and cloth, and alternatively at the machining table with steel and chemfuel.
Pipes can also be made at the crafting spot from steel, and then at both the machining table and the smithy
Do note that due to improper tools, recipes at the crafting spot are inefficient, and not profitable. I advise you instead to use your trustyworthy machining table.

MOST IMPORTANTLY

Power conduits are PATCHED, and now cost you actual electrical cables! (Who would have thought?)
Same thing for waterproof conduits (except you still need another protective steel layer).

BUT, you can always fork the mod, patch it, expand upon it as you wish, go wild.


If you encounter any errors, conflict with other mods or balance issues, please tell me in details and don't simply complain that "mod no work", bonus points if logs are present. Details and logs in bug reporting vastly help me in improving this mod.


FAQ

Q: Can i safely add/remove this from my save?
A: Add, yes. remove, yes BUT only if no items/recipes are present ANYWHERE on the map, even then i cannot guarantee anything as items are still present in hauling zones menu.

Q: Can I update/maintain/expand/fork this mod?
A: YES I would be more than happy to see this mod live and be expanded upon. Quite frankly I haven't touched this mod in a while so if you want to fork it just go ahead.

Q: CE?
A: OF COURSE. You can't hurt people with pipes though.

License & Credits

You can do whatever (update, modify, expand on, copy, redistribute), credit would be nice but not required (just dont go pretend you made the art). Otherwise I do not particularly care.

Some items from the previews come from Vanilla Furniture Expanded, VFE - Props and Decor and Dubs Bad Hygiene (both great mods btw), credits to their respective authors.

MedicalPol for everything (else, of course).

Something something about a similar section to this one existing in the mod files, please keep it there when redistributing or reuploading this mod.

I have updated the EM - metals patch for the 1.5 version, now it should use the proper defname. Downside is that now you can use the old EM with the 1.5 version of this mod cause both mods share the same name.
If anything else breaks feel free to yell at me, but as I said I've pretty much moved on, I'll still drop the occasional update to change the About.xml but that's about it sadly :(

Speaking of the expanded materials - metal patch,
The patch needs to use EM_Copper as opposed to the VMEu_Copper its using now, since the new version of EM changed the defname.

the expanded materials - metals patch doesnt seem to work with the newly updated and separate version of the mod and breaks the crafting recipe for the electrical cables

Late to the party but it has been updated for 1.5. And with it, i patched the vanilla hidden conduit, which takes two cables to build instead of the two steel.
