Description
This mod adds a series or factories that delete items instead of producing them. This is to help lategame performance.

Each factory removes one type of item and will by default remove all of that type of item on the ship as crew delivers to it. Restrictions can be applied by using the supply chain functionality, or by just not building that type of factory.

The intent is to place these factories on a cleanup ship that will collect all the items and debris in a system and remove, which will hopefully reduce lag spikes and improve fps.

I tested by removing free floating rocks and debris in a previously visited system. Removing piles and areas seemed to slightly help fps, but noticeably helped reduce lag spikes as large amounts of items no longer had to be loaded in.

Of course items can also just be collected and sold, but it often seemed like the stations would run out of space for all the junk I was collecting.

Not a perfect solution, but hopefully helps lategame!

Savegame compatible - it just adds new blocks to the production tab and does not modify any existing ones.

can you update the mod, the newest version makes it not work properly, causing a crash when enabled, and save files with the factories on ships prevent you from loading in if you turn the mod off.

I sat down to write one of these, but the real world got in the way :(

I thought about doing it as a molecular furnace - The main purpose would be to clear out system cruft, but it would also act as an emergency power source - burn (say) 10 of *anything* and it spits out a single battery...

now we don't have to build bigger and bigger ships to hold everything
and selling just isn't worth it mid to late game

Not sure how to do that unfortunately. I'm not sure what command gives money when completing a mission or fame when destroying a ship.

Would be nice but not straightforward to do. The power cable mod looks like it acting as a central delivery spot for power, like an engine room and buffs nearby building, but then the reactor also generates said power so no delivery is needed. Not a straightforward implementation to just pull from a nearby stack automatically, which would be great!

wish it operated in a radius like the power cable mod...
