FOXCOM Lite Prototype - Supplemental

Description
This mod is a one-line config edit that supposedly enables Direct3D 11 features for the game's engine.

In limited testing this has shown to improve performance by up to 20% on certain PCs and mod setups, and had no effect in other cases.

We don't know what this setting does exactly, so use at your own risk.

REQUIREMENTS

Presumably your computer must support DirectX 11, which is already a minimum requirement for XCOM 2.

DEINSTALLATION

It is possible that this mod will continue having an effect even after you deactivate and/or unsubscribe from it. If you want to be sure, delete the following file:
...\Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config\XComEngine.ini

@LA MUERTE
It's part of the OS, not the game. If you're talking about Vulkan then on Windows one puts the d3d9.dll at the same Directory as the game .exe so Windows uses that rather than traversing to System32 or whatevs

Sort of related but in the game files directory, where is the Direct3D files? Since I'm in linux and I can replace the d3d11 files for DXVK/VKD3D

edit: Oops, it was just Special K itself that's being a problem. DXVK will work for XCOM2, though, and I'm using that instead. Not to my fullest desire, but it's workable a solution.

To report my own personal experience: Seems great, but also conflicts with Special K. Any time a major scene change occurs, the window's swapchain freezes up. From a mission to the dropship going back to Avenger, or from a mission to the main menu if exiting out to the menu, for instance.

Nuking your XComEngine.ini also means your entire run needs to be restarted because when you try to reload a save the game will not remember any of your saved mods, so be careful of that.
That's not true.

I've been using the "AllowD3D11=True" flag for a while now and on my system it gives much smoother gameplay with improved fps (7800X3D w/4090). I'm surprised it's not mentioned in any of the Xcom graphics tweaks threads listed on the net. Maybe the option used to be buggy at launch?

Thank you, the setting AllowD3Dll=True in XComEngine.ini worked perfectly. From my experience on other games using DirectX, I also added -force-d3d11 in the Steam Launch Options parameter.

Combined this with the tbbmalloc.dll from Memory Allocation Dll, no more stuttering or lagging. The graphics FPS is perfectly buttery smooth on Strategy, Tactical and in-game movies! 👍

Glad I waited on the full campaign until the QoL issues have sorted out!

Cheers! 👍

Brilliant. Brilliant! Enabling this made my game look amazing. My GeForce 3080 absolutely loves it. Soldier hair looks better. Lighting is improved. Incredible mod. Thanks, @Iridar.
