TinyTown

Description
Accept the challenge of being limited to around 40 population. Every life matters. With a few minor surprises and increased difficulties, you will have to play a little differently than usual. (in custom map locations) You may have to evolve how you manage and plan.

Also...enjoy a smaller, more intimate village, asmr style, with the aesthetics of custom map locations.

(Aside from what makes this a particular scenario, I also intend this mod as a tribute to the niche classic that Dawn of Man is.)

Tip - You don't have to constantly go in and out of primal vision, or do hardcore only because of the primal vision play. There's a better way, and I'm hoping that not too many players think that they have to do that.

edit for last post - it seems that steam now allows watching gameplay broadcast from a player using deck.

REQUEST:

I've always wanted to watch others play this, instead of watching only myself play/test it. Partly for curiosity and observation, partly for fun.

I'm requesting to be able to watch the broadcast of those who have TinyTown (to friend-request me for the time while playing/watching, etc), starting from the beginning of your game.

I would mostly just watch and not bother a player with chat, though i'd be available for chat and questions if so desired.

My times would be mostly U.S. central time evenings, and different times on weekends. I'd also prefer watching those who rarely play fast-forward and enjoy playing it normal speed. Lastly, you'd need to have a 'normal'/gaming P.C., steam doesn't support watching a game played on deck or console (?).

Thank You :)

I thought wildlife was great! Thinking about it though, it's probably easier to handle the wildlife playing on hardcore cause primal vision doesn't pause the game so i can see animals coming from further away and deal with it. I haven't played normal in a couple years as i just picked the game up again. And because of that primal vision fact and the extra challenge i usually only play in hardcore. And in this... primal vision is just sooo necessary because of the wildlife. I thought playing this on normal would make the raids easier cause i could pause and individually move my people around or tell them who to attack. I do that already but with the people mashing together as they do and moving quick its just hard to be that tactiful in hardcore

But, it's nice to hear that you survived all this. Even though it sounds rougher than it's supposed to be and than I intended (if that size keeps coming in palo or meso) I like that someone enjoys and survives that extra challenge which was intentional. There are ways to weather that storm, and I don't want to give too many spoiler tips, but it sounds like you already do pretty good.

Btw, what is your experience with the wildlife?

Thanks VERY much for the feedback. It's still very unusual that you get that many raiders so often, but more so in the earlier eras...if this happens in neolithic, it's less of a mystery. Otherwise it isn't even in the code that way...however, it does make a difference that you're getting them in separate groups. That was helpful information. Separate groups IS intentional. And yes, they try to join up (I wish I could have them not do so). But if you get such raider numbers in palo or meso, that shouldn't keep happening. You might just have very coincidental bad luck to have that size raids that often early on. Also, if you play hardcore, it's definitely going to be harder.

Yeah, my people weren't even finished licking their wounds, some still had infection from that raid when we got attacked by another size 20 raid, and then 2 seasons later 22 more raiders came again. I like the challenge, I enjoy some of the bigger raids. But to consistently have these size raids, it'll just dwindle my people down as they happen far faster than new births or or migrants and I cant possibly go with no deaths at all from that size raid. Again on hardcore, might be easier on normal cause i could pause and individually target raiders better but for hardcore idk if it can be done with these size and frequency of raids that early. I had 29 people at the beginning of the raid i mentioned below, is that on par with where i should be after about 2-3 techs into neolithic? just not sure if its just too unbalanced, if im doing it wrong or if im just bad lol

The huge 20+ size group did come again, was only able to get past it cause thankfully the group spawned separately and on two different sides of the map, i was able to send my people out and kill the smaller but closer group then had my people wait at base for the larger group. I think even if multiple different raider groups spawn, as long as they are on the map they try to combine into one. That's my take away so I think i know what u were suggesting when you said unlikely event, but its happened 3 times over now, just them spawning separately and because of where the smaller group had to pass to meet the bigger group made a massive difference in the survivability as I only saw the smaller group cause they past by right next to base. Thought I was toast again cause a size 25 raider group showed up 3 techs later but made it out with only the death of an old woman.

Let me know how your new game goes, and thank you for your feedback!!

Loooook I only checked it cause of that massive raid, that would be the only thing i wanted to change, otherwise everything else is great. Happened on two separate playthroughs both on river fork map. First one I tried reloading but didnt change anything and second one they had already spawned in by the time i had saved. Second one was today so after your latest update. trying again on crag plains see how it goes
