Description
A Diving Suit Overhaul
Immersive Diving Gear is a purely xml based overhaul for diving suit gameplay and makes it more challenging by adding dynamic suit pressurization. It will take time to stabilize the suit pressure before you can enter pressurized water without taking damage. Suits will also make you considerably slower while walking.

Load Order:
- Immersive Diving Gear
- Any mod that changes or adjusts things about diving suits

Diving Suits:
  • Pressure Valve:
The suit has an integrated button interface to open and close the pressure valve. An open pressure valve releases built up pressure and allows you to breath hull oxygen instead of your tank content.
A closed valve will only take effect if you're wearing a diving suit helmet with a seal in it. Once the valve is closed it'll start the pressurization process and cuts off access to hull oxygen. You're now reliant on the tank in your suit. Every few seconds your suit pressurizes more and allows you to dive 500m deeper. Once the pressurization icon turns green the suit has reached it's maximum pressure value and will allow you to dive up to the suits maximum depth.

  • Slower Movement:
Diving suits will now reduce your movement speed more than they did before when wearing them while walking.

  • Slot Change:
Suits are no longer equipped in the outer clothes slot and instead will now be equipped in your inner clothing slot. So you got to get out of your clothes and into the diving suit.

  • Bot Friendly:
Bots will automatically equip a custom helmet which can't be interacted with and receive instant pressure protection to prevent them from dying as their AI can't handle more complex systems. Once the bot takes off the suit or the player takes control and the bot is no longer pressurized and in water, the helmet will despawn.

Diving Helmets:
Diving helmets are required to pressurize a diving suit. A diving helmet requires a suit seal to allow the suit to build up pressure and a battery if you want to make use of the helmet lamp.
The lamp can be toggled on and off via an interface.

Any diving helmet can be worn with any diving suit as they do not provide any stats nor any oxygen on their own. The diving helmet is worn in the outer clothing slot to allow you to also wear a mask or other headgear underneath it.

The sounds are also overhauled to not play randomly and instead play the distinct water bubble sounds (with visual bubbles rising from your helmet) when breathing while in water and in-suit breathing sounds when not in water.

Is it safe to remove mid campaign?

Had a funny thought that anyone is free to use how they'd like, about getting mechanical suit lacerations or arc holes on a pressurized suit giving a small chance to cause explosive decompression. Since this has happened irl for 4.5psi space suits, rather than several bar to tens of bar pressure game scenarios, I'd imagine the results to be more violent and damaging in game lore, even if the hole was small and it was likely on a glove inner bend.

tldr: "thanks, satan!"

@<†>Baigle1<†>™: I'll check on the patch to see if it needs some updating

@PBL: Bots are not impacted by the mod's mechanics. They spawn a helmet on themselves just so they don't look weird diving without a helmet as bots only recognize the diving suit item as it's suit+helmet in one item in vanilla. The suit is what makes them resistant to pressure. Their custom helmet will also prevent you from dying when you switch to them while they're diving. Only once the character has moved out of the water and not prone to implode, the helmet will automatically disappear since it was not originally part of your equipment and basically "cheated in" by the bot.

probably something to make AI work properly and nicely

So i tested nothing but this mod alone, and i noticed when i tell the AI to put on a suit they will, but if i take control of them the helmet will just disapear, if i change to another character it appears again.

I also noticed that if you tell them to get a suit they above will happen, but if you give them a helmet and close the valve preassure goes but when you change characters if just keeps reseting to 0

I can't get this to load properly between, before, or after Real Sonar and Hazardous Reactors mods, including with the RS and HR mod patch loaded before or after

Loading them at the beginning or the end of the mod list also does not effectualize their slot changes or button mechanics
PBL 20 Jun @ 6:37pm
Is it just me or do the npcs not need to pressurise their suits when they go in the water?

@Тупой зомби: Then the author of those modded subs either forgot to set the "divingcab" tag to the diving cabinet or disabled "autofill" on the suit lockers and cabinets.

@Roadent: Funky bug that I can't really fix unfortunately.

@Nic: Yeah it's possible, but usually people notice it unless they're new to the mod.

(I forgot the step of putting it back but I doubt anybody ready would've been that confused)
