EuroSpaces' Catalan Class is a series of light and fast destroyers built around a particularly rapidly reloading Chaingun layout supported by Disruptors. It features the Catalan-A & Catalan-B along with PVP versions.

Catalan-A: Barely larger than a frigate, it is designed for flanking in groups. Can keep enemies busy, but may run into energy problems during frontal assaults.
Speed - 91m/s (~100m/s with boost), Crew - 100, Cost - $578.060,-

Catalan-PVP: Stripped of all non-essentials to be able to field 3 within a $1.5mil limit.
Speed - ~93m/s (~108m/s with boost), Crew - 70, Cost - $499.970,-

Catalan-B: The B variant has large reactors to be tougher, faster and offer more dps, but it is more expensive.
Speed - 100m/s (~105m/s with boost), Crew - 112, Cost - $799.810,-

I guess that's a good point. Thx, I'll try to build a 1mil ship in the future. But that will be its own can of worms.

Yes the rounded version I think will do better. The versions protecting its flanks with a shield and pd has an easily exploitable weakness for someone combining disruptors+lasers+speed, and since laser guns are fragile its common for PvP ships that use lasers to also be speedy and also have disruptors. A fast laser wall just needs one or two salvos at the right angle to tear a hole in either side.

I think it would work better to pair one of these with a ship around one milion, the reason being that if you have three of these and your oponent has a 1,5mil ship I dont think these are tanky enough to stand up to a 1,5 mil PvP ship long enough for the others to get in position and do some serious damage.

I updated the PVP ship into a better version for $500k. It's supposed to be a trap ship fielded in a group of 3 to flank opponents while they are busy killing one of or both of the other two ships. New one goes at 108m/s with boost, which is still kinda slow for a trap, but better than before. What do you think of this new version?

Probably its lack of defined role. For career a well rounded ship can always find something usefull to do, even if its poorly designed you can just go bully smaller ships to figure out the ships weak spots.

PvP ships tend to do better if they have a clearly defined role. A fast gunwall will run laps around you, a railkite will just ... well kite you all day, etc

Your combination of armor and shields and choice of weaponry makes your ship, not a brawler, not a kiter, not a long range sniper. There is always a bit of rock paper scissors in PvP, but a middle of the road ship will loose a lot for simply not commiting to a strategy it can fully capitalize on.

Yeah, that's what I thought. However, I don't think you can make it much faster. The smaller variant is already scratching the limit of what the medium reactors can provide and upgrading to a large one just makes the craft cost $750k, at which point fielding just two is too little firepower. I have no idea where the money sink is. What do I remove to make it cost only $500k while also going at ~120m/s, having decent shielding to keep opponents busy, and bringing enough firepower?

I tried this ship in pvp and it sucks. Cool paint job tho, but very bad ship, way too slow.
