Female Pawns
  • Increased hunger rate: Adjusted from 62.5% to 78%. This is offset by the later-mentioned body size change.
  • Reduced body size: Decreased from 100% to 90%, affecting carry weight, hunger rate, dodge chance from bullets, meat amount, and more.
  • Adjusted health and damage: Health of body parts reduced from 100% to 90% and incoming damage reduced from 110% to 100%.
  • Increased meat amount: Raised from 85% to 90% to compensate for the decrease due to body size reduction.
  • Enhanced melee hit and dodge chances: Increased both from 50% to 85%.
  • Extended stagger duration: Increased from 100% to 120% when Biotech is active.
  • Reduced suppressibility: Lowered from 150% to 125%.
  • Diminished certainty loss factor: Reduced from 300% to 150%.
  • Restriction on 'Hulk' body type: Preventing this body type for spawned females unless it's part of their genomes. (Configurable)
Male Pawns
  • Reduced social learning factor: Decreased from 92% to 87% for males.


My enjoyment playing medieval-themed playthroughs in RimWorld led me to appreciate the immersive experience offered by the original Sex Matters mod. However, I encountered issues with its functionality in Vanilla and compatibility challenges with essential mods like RimWar. Additionally, I felt that the original mod's approach to sexual dimorphism was somewhat overstated, particularly in aspects unrelated to physical abilities.

Therefore, the mission of Sex Matters Redux is threefold:

1. Enhance Functionality and Compatibility: My primary objective is to repair broken features and ensure seamless integration with popular mods, including those indispensable for medieval scenarios.

2. Rebalance Sex Differences: A significant focus is on recalibrating sex-based differences. The aim is to scale back or eliminate certain exaggerations, fostering a more realistic portrayal, particularly emphasizing differences in physical abilities rather than mental ones.

3. Ongoing Evolution: Just as with my previous mod, 'Variety Matters Redux', I will be continually updating Sex Matters Redux. Future updates will introduce new functionalities and enhancements, enriching the immersiveness further.



General Improvements
  • Fixed and enhanced raid sex-ratio: I've resolved the broken functionality of the male-dominated raids feature, which was problematic in the original mod, and ensured compatibility with mods featuring custom raids and battles, such as RimWar. Now, males represent the majority of combat forces, introducing a dual challenge. Firstly, the combat-oriented nature of male pawns escalates battle intensity. Secondly, the rarity of female pawns calls for more strategic approaches in capture or recruitment, potentially involving attacks on caravans or settlements, or diplomatic routes like the Hospitality mod.
  • Visible hediffs: Introduced visible female and male hedif to list all of the stats differences during gameplay.
  • Probability-based raid distribution: Overhauled the female/male raid distribution logic from a fixed ratio to a more dynamic probability-based system, enhancing raids' combat diversity and unpredictability.

Revised Sex Differences Stats
In the sections below, I detail the key modifications implemented in Sex Matters Redux concerning sex-based stats differences. Note that many stats from the original Sex Matters mod have been retained in their original form and are therefore not listed here to maintain a focus on the new changes.
Adjustments to Female Pawns
  • Standardized surgery success and operation speed: Removed previous sex-based modifiers, aligning female capabilities with males.
  • Construction and repair efficiency normalized: Eliminated negative success rate modifiers, equating female efficiency with male counterparts.
  • Equalized mining yield: The 75% mining yield modifier for females has been removed, ensuring sex parity in resource gathering.
  • Harmonized skill learning rates: Female pawns now have equal learning rates for Melee, Shooting, Mining, and Construction as males, removing the previous disparities.
  • Adjusted suppressability (CE): Reduced from 200% to 125%.
  • Aligned aiming accuracy: Removed the female-specific modifier, unifying shooting capabilities across sexes.
  • Mental break threshold normalized: Reverted to vanilla levels.
  • Enhanced attractiveness: Introduced a +1 beauty modifier for female pawns, adding an aspect of physical appeal.
  • Modified physical mass factor: Adjusted the body mass and meat amount to 85%.
  • Increased Melee crit chance, parry chance and dodge change from 50% to 85
Adjustments to Male Pawns
Elevated Mental Break Susceptibility: The threshold of male pawns for experiencing a mental break has been increased by 5%. This adjustment not only introduces a new layer of complexity and challenge but also aims to reflect a more nuanced portrayal of emotional responses in reality. The rationale behind this change is grounded in the observation that, generally, males exhibit less control over anger and quicker tendencies towards agitation and violence.


Planned Features for Future Updates
  1. Integration with 'Snap Out!': Allow female pawns, to actively assist male pawns experiencing mental breaks. Each female pawn will have a cooldown period determining how often she can attempt to 'snap out' a male pawn from a mental break.
  2. Body Type Influence on Stats: Done, see Body Type Matters Redux
  3. Sex-Specific Mental Break Tendencies: Male pawns will be more prone to violent mental breaks like berserk or sadistic rage, whereas female pawns will have a higher propensity for non-violent mental breaks such as catatonic breakdowns or psychotic wandering.
  4. Skill Passion Probability Adjustments: Modify the probability for male and female pawns to have passions for certain skills.
  5. Adjusted Social Fight Tendencies: Increase the frequency of social fights among male pawns, while reducing them for female pawns, reflecting differing social conflict styles.
  6. Removal of 'Female Presence' Mood for Disinterested Pawns: Eliminate the 'Female Presence' mood effect for pawns that have no interest in females, adding more depth to individual pawn preferences and interactions.
  7. Still open for more suggestions..

In case you do not plan to update this for 1.6, could you please at least specify licence/permission so that somebody can continue this? Just including the source without a licence is not an automatic permission.

I see you changed body sizes, so how is this with mods like big & small that has body size genes?
