Description
Combining lessons from the Catalan Class and the ES Madrid, the ES Kyiv by EuroSpace Industries (yes, in the future Ukraine is part of the EU - deal with it) is a lighter version of the Madrid's dual Chaingun design. Its role lies between the two archetypes, able to intercept relatively fast targets while trading some speed for more firepower. Said firepower consists of 2 very fast reloading Chaingun setups it borrows from the Catalans along with 4 Disruptors to overload shields while the Chainguns spin up. In addition to ESI's traditional shield neck, the Kyiv features a shield layout that provides good defense from all sides, leaving only few unshielded blindspots. Bolstering this already formidable defense are 6 PD-guns on either wing. This highly defensive layout enables it to fly into the frey to orbit or flank enemies when escorting larger combat vessels without fearing shots from behind. Though it is also able to hold its own against most vessels of similar size.

Speed: ~96m/s
Crew: 162
Cost: ~$966.500,-

Glad to hear you like it. And yeah, freedom to your people. I admire everyone who does more than informational support of a just cause.

This design is exceptionally well-crafted. You built everything very good, particularly the concept of frontal defense. The ship exudes an impressive and formidable presence. The color scheme and intricate details add to its overall appeal.

Upon analysis, I could only think of minimal changes, mostly based on personal preferences.

Additionally, I want to express my gratitude for the invaluable informational support.

Touche, I do use it as the lance point of my formation.

Blasters are indeed more accurate, but cannons not really imo. Also cannons get eaten by flak and PD which is common among built-in ships. So cannons have way less actual dps in most situations. And blasters just can't keep up with the chaingun's dps - at least not with the reload time of the setup I always use. I did some math and it seems like you need 7 heavy blasters to break even the dps of one chaingun. And sustaining 7 heavy blasters is way more expensive than this chaingun setup.

Afaik the chaingun is not very precise when fully revved up, it spreads a little, more so than the blasters, so usually blasters & cannons can break through armor in almost a line, while chainguns have some spread so it looks like a cone, it means the higher DPS is spread onto more plates than the other weapons.

What exactly do you mean? I'm not quite sure from your description, though I'm always thankful for feedback.
It's true that this ship doesn't have super high dps (none of my ships do) as most of its budget is in defense and speed, but I personally don't have any issue focusing down weapons - most encounters end like in the last or first screenshot for me. Though CG accuracy is of course less than my typical ion ships, made up by its relatively cheap dps.

I also love your designs, this one however feels underwhelming due to the chain-gun tendency to sway, so it's harder to focus fire a component, basically you end up carving the enemy's hull in a triangle shape.

Glad to hear. Though currently struggling to create a design that can take on the 3mil ships head on for a slightly lower cost than them. Still lots to learn.
