Wisteria

Description
Wisteria freezes her way into Smack Studio! She uses her shovel alongside her ice magic to keep opponents at bay! Wisteria is designed to be both casual and tournament-friendly, as she was made with the intention of fighting on even ground with the Base Roster cast.

NOTES
Wisteria is a light but fast character with low ground friction. Her strengths are in her movement, combo ability, and stage control via projectiles. However, Wisteria's primary weakness is being easy to KO due to being a very light character.

SPECIALS:

NEUTRAL SPECIAL: ICE SHARD
Wisteria fires an ice shard at an her opponent from her shovel that deals 3%. The ice shard will decelerate and go backwards after a very short period of time. If you jump 10 frames before landing and press B, you can quickly get out an ice shard and follow it up with a second ice shard. There is also a small hitbox on her shovel when the projectile spawns that deals 5% if the opponent is on top of that spot at that time. This move also has a cooldown of 1.5 seconds.

SIDE SPECIAL: GLACIAL RAY
Wisteria takes a step back before yeeting her shovel at the opponent. If it doesn't hit an opponent, it will explode midair. Using this move will send Wisteria backwards. If you are standing on a platform or ledge, this move will send her off of them.

UP SPECIAL: DESCENDING SNOWFLAKE
Wisteria leaps upwards with her shovel, before rapidly spinning downwards with a strong landing attack. She has three types of hitboxes for this attack. The first hitbox has medium strength, appearing on the head of Wisteria's shovel. The second hitboxes that occur when Wisteria spins have 0 knockback, so while opponents can take damage from the attack, it also allows them to easily interrupt it too. The third hitbox occurs on the first four frames of the landing animation with Up-B and is a strong finishing attack. It does take some time for Wisteria to loosen her shovel after jamming it into the ground, so use this attack sparingly as it is very punishable.

DOWN SPECIAL: STALACTITE SHOWER
Wisteria spawns 3 larger versions of Ice Shard that go upwards before descending downwards. They do not explode while going up, but *can* explode while descending. Projectiles deal 1% upon ascending, and 4% when they explode after hitting a player. This move is often used for stage control or to start a combo.
This move has a 7 second cooldown. If you attempt to Down-B again during cool down, you will instead get a weak version of the attack with a tiny hitbox that deals 3% and does not spawn any projectiles.


SMASHES:

FORWARD SMASH: BLIZZARD SWEEP
Wisteria sweeps at the ground in front of her with her shovel. This attack can hit opponents that are holding ledge, dealing 12%.

DOWN SMASH: PORCUPICE WALL
Wisteria stabs the the ground at her feet, summoning a short-lived wall of icicles on both sides of her. This move deals 11%.

UP SMASH: FROZEN PILLORY
Wisteria points her shovel upwards, allowing a huge ice column to sprout from the floor that deals 13%. While Frozen Pillory can hit opponents through platforms, it has a very limited horizontal range. If an opponent is standing besides Wisteria when the move is active, it will do 8% with high hit stun.

AERIALS:

NEUTRAL AIR: Wisteria extends her limbs out to unleash a circular ice blast around herself. This move has 5 hitboxes and deals 9%. The center and top hitboxes will send opponents straight up. The hitbox on the left will send opponents to the left, the hitbox on the right will send opponents to the right, and the hitbox below will send opponents downward. It can spike, but this is a very weak hitbox with low hitstun, so it is only truly effective at spiking in limited circumstances when the opponent is at high percent.

FORWARD AIR: Wisteria stabs the area in front of her with her shovel several times before blasting it with ice. It deals 10% if every single hit lands. (Weak jabs deal 1~2% each - the strong hit deals 5%.) Forward-Air can be used as a kill move. It will send Wisteria backwards if the strong hit lands on an opponent.

UP AIR: Wisteria stabs the area above her with her shovel several times before blasting it with ice. Similar to how Forward Air works, Up Air's weak jabs deal 1~2% each and the strong hit deals 5%. Up Air acts as a followup to Up-Tilt and can also be used as a kill move. It will send Wisteria downwards if it hits an opponent.

DOWN AIR: Wisteria swings her shovel downwards, leaving a trail of ice in its path. A good tool for ledge spiking as it can spike most opponents. Use it in rapid succession by taking advantage of her low landing lag.

BACK AIR: Wisteria swings her shovel behind her, spewing ice at her opponents. It can be used for either ledge guarding or for spacing. The ice has a weak tipper hitbox that deals less knockback while the stronger hitbox is closer to the shovel.


TILTS:

UP TILT: Wisteria gently swings her shovel upwards, creating a flurry of ice above her head. Good for starting a combo. Weak hits deal 1%, the strong hit deals 3%. It will whiff against crouched opponents.

FORWARD TILT: Wisteria takes a big step forward, swinging down with her shovel with an ice blast that appears on the shovel head. Mostly a "get off me" move with decent spacing. Has tipper and sourspot hitboxes, tipper being on the ice blast/shovel head and sourspot on the shovel bar length. This move deals 7% on the tipper hitbox and 5% on the sourspot with varying knockback.

DOWN TILT: Wisteria sits down and jabs the area low to the ground in front of her with her shovel. It deals 7%. This move can hit opponents holding ledge.

GRABS:

Wisteria has a close-ranged but quick grab. It is easily outranged by many other character's grabs, so please keep that in mind.

FORWARD THROW: Wisteria holds up the opponent before blasting them with ice. Deals 9%.
BACK THROW: Wisteria bonks the opponent behind her with her shovel. Deals 9%.
UP THROW: Wisteria chucks the opponent upward, firing 3 weaker ice shards after them. Deals 6%, and 2% per projectile.
DOWN THROW: Wisteria shovels the opponent away in front of her. Deals 9%.

ULTRA: CRYSTALLINE PALACE
Wisteria temporarily becomes a Touhou Project boss for about 6 seconds. This move is ideally used when an opponent is directly above you, offstage, or while they are trapped in hitstun. Hitting Wisteria at any point during the Ultra will interrupt it and stop the move early.


TAUNTS:

Wisteria has three Taunts. Pressing A or B during her Default Dance Taunt will switch to another Taunt, or cancel the animation. Wisteria's taunts loop indefinitely until you do a movement, jump, shield, or Taunt input, which returns you to Idle.

Taunt (Default): Wisteria does a cute little dance loop.
Taunt + A: Wisteria transforms into her old MS Paint Steam Thumbnail artwork.
Taunt + B: Wisteria sleeps on her fluffy tail.

OTHER NOTES + TIPS:
Wisteria's hurtboxes cover her entire sprite, cloak included. Do note that there are no hurtboxes for either Wisteria's tail or her hair.
