Japanese Government Railways Hoha6510(6510~6557)

Hoha 6510 (6510~6557) was a third-class bogie coach made at the British and Kobe factories. Although there is no clear indication in the documents of the time as to which factory in the U.K. they were manufactured, but it is probably that some of them were made at the Metropolitan Railway Carriage & wagon Company's factory. This is one of the bogie coaches introduced when the Tokaido Line was fully opened in 1889, the type diagram written by F.H. Trevithick in 1893 shows this coach as [type AE]. By around the year 1900, the coaches of type AE became Habo 16~Habo69 (with missing numbers along the way, and it is unknown if the missing numbers are scrapped or other types). Later, when private railways such as Nippon Railway and Sanyo Railway were nationalized, they became form Hoha6510~Hoha6557 of type6510, but by the end of the Meiji era, most of them were converted to other types of coaches, and form 6510 seems to have disappeared in the early Taisho era.
