Description
Here you get a mod for qdly_beetle ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2443126103 ) . This means you need to use the original qdly_beetle mod as basic and add this one afterwards.

I really love the idea driving an old Volkswagen beetle in the DayZ world. An air cooled engine make life more easy in it. So I like Quadley´s Beetly mod. I just wasn´t happy with the textures, the colors was to strong and the beetle looked to shiny. So I reworked the textures in many hours to give the beetle rust and more realistic colors from the 60´s. I also added two Herbie versions, since I love that bug. I got the idea from HerbieTheLoveBug mod made by GetRekt. Thanks for permission to use his open source files.

***** What you get in this mod: *****

- 10 different colors and reworked textures for qdly_beetle. 7 realistic 60´s color, 2 Herbies (rusty and new) and one camouflage (just because … why not?^^) More might come soon. Planed to make some bi color versions and maybe publish no rust versions.

- my wooden crate Trunk mod is included in this one. So you don´t need it extra. It´s just a bit different. You can use the trunk crate only in the beetles slot, made for the trunk crate. This means you also get 4 different wooden crates to use as trunk. You get 250, 300 and 550 slots as normal trunk. If it´s not enough, you can use a 1000 slot crate. I was thinking about making a fixed size trunk, but with the boxes you can give your beetle different trunk sizes, so you can adjust it a bit to other cars on your server. It makes the beetle not overpowered or to weak with slot size. Or you can sell it as upgrade options for the trunk.
May be if someone needs, I can add another size between 550 and 1000.

You can still add a normal wooden crate to get 50 more Slots

- 9 Beetle wrecks you can place with editor. You can place them for spawning random loot and let them spawn beetle parts (doors, wheels, hood and trunk) like with vanilla vehicles wrecks. Classnames you find in the extras folder.

- in extra folder there is: classname, types, trader and traderplus files, event example and spawnabletypes, mapgroupsproto, mapgroupsproto example for Rostow/Sarov maps (may be Deer Isle and Chernarus will follow)

Repacking:
-- No -- qdly_beetles is not allowed to repack, so it doesn´t make sence to repack this mode without it.

Known issue:
1. Wrecks spawns hoods and doors only in the correct position, if you place it with all 0 rotation. ryp 0.0.0

Unfortunately my knowledge about modding is not good so it could take a while and might need some help.

Things I want to change and might be changed in future versions:
- Maybe give the option to add a barrel and / or a seachest slot. Really nice would be with an additional roof rag
- Making Herbie a bit faster

Normaly you wouldn´t need it. But I would add them, since Quadley mads an texture update too, they are looking good too ;)

My version ar jus more rusty.

I´m still thinking there might be a little error in the code. Feel free to send the files.

I did make my own event. I named it "VehicleVolkswagens", and it's in the event spawns the same way.

Do I have to have the Beetles from Quadley's mod also in the types file as, like, base models?

hm well. That sounds strange. Did you make a own event spawn for the beetle or placed it into a event from vanilla vehicles?

Maybe, if possible, you can share your files and I can take a look at it.

I am having a problem. I have both the Quadley and your mod installed. But, the Beetles are not spawning, and the error in the log is saying that the types for the various rust Beetles do not exist.

I only wanted your Beetles, so I did not load Quadley's Beetles into the various files. I loaded your Beetle types (and parts) into my types file, and also added the event and the event spawn, and set up the spawnable types. I have added many other mods (vehicle and otherwise) to my server, so adding in new types, and setting up the events for them to spawn, is not new to me.

I have checked and double-checked the types names, and made sure that they matched the events and spawnable types. They all have the "CDLWD_beetle_***" type associated with them.

Any ideas?
