Please read this description if you want a good flying experience

This lovable old-timer was introduced in 1954 as an upgraded replacement of the H-19 Chickasaw. It was originally designed for anti-submarine warfare, but was eventually used for pretty much everything.

The design lore of this helicopter is a little complicated, but it essentially goes like this:

The timescale between all these models is a little muddled, so I decided you could decide for yourself which designation to give your H-34. It's a pretty versatile blank slate / testbed platform, and I highly encourage you editing or modifying your copy for your own specific uses.

Keep in mind some of the water-oriented models have folding tails IRL, but this version does not.

Vehicle Info
This helicopter will handle a little different from what you may be used to in this game. It does not use the regular gyro component, but instead uses a gyro I developed myself (I doubt it's unique but I made it myself and I'm proud of it).
Behavior:
The helicopter will generally hold the orientation it's set to face, but will not stabilize to hold it's x,y position. It is built to mimic how a real pilot might control, and therefore all control changes are cutoff when you exit the pilot seats. Pressing 6 will activate the "stabilization" which will only set the helicopter's orientation to be close to the orientation needed to hold it's position in space. I generally don't use it unless I lose situational awareness in first person.
Controls:
w/a/s/d: Cyclic (as usual)
l/r/u/d: Yaw, Collective (as usual)
1/2: Throttle governor control, same as the buttons on the center console
3: Engine starter
4: Landing spotlight
5: Collective trim - This will toggle the collective at a cruise level, the same level it would reach when you hold up arrow. If you hold up arrow while this is toggled, it will further increase the collective and allow you to fly faster. Holding down arrow while this is toggled will lower the collective to neutral, undoing the trim. You need to disable the trim in order to descend in hover.
6: Big baby dum dum gyro - If you're WEAK and can't control the heli well enough to hover (a.k.a. playing multiplayer) then press this key to toggle the "autopilot." The H-34 does have a rudimentary autopilot IRL but honestly cruising with it ingame is already easy enough.

Startup:
  1. BATT & GEN
  2. FLT INST PWR
  3. IGNITION & FUEL PUMP
  4. Hold the starter (3) until the engine turns over (~300ERPM)
  5. Disable ROTOR BRAKE if enabled
  6. CLUTCH (center console)
  7. Raise throttle governor to 0.7 (~250RRPM)
  8. Check black panel at base of seat under instrument panel, move cyclic (w/a/s/d) until both numbers read 0
  9. Liftoff
If you want to cruise, enable the collective trim and angle the heli forward until your vertical speed stabilizes around zero.

How to enter, or exit, the helicopter
To enter, either open the door like a civilized human being and enter the seat via the cabin, or jump until you can reach the seat through the window.
To exit, either look down under and behind the co-pilot's seat for the bench labeled "(pilot's cabin access)," or directly face the front pillar of the side window and walk forwards while crouching. If you do not crouch, your head will be cut off by the blades, provided you haven't employed the rotor brake.

At times the seats may jiggle or twitch. This is perfectly normal. Blame the game's physics.

When the game reloads the helicopter, usually when you teleport too far away and then teleport back, the overhead panel sometimes has a crisis and decides to be above the blades. To fix, just fold the blades and let the panel retract like normal.

As far as I've measured, there is a approx. 45 minutes of endurance with a fully topped up tank. Theoretically it can get you to the arctic, but I haven't actually undertaken the journey yet.

Since there are so many versions of this helicopter, I left the walls blank for you to add your own decals and paint schemes. It's definitely not because I'm lazy I swear

I spent too much time on the parts of this helicopter that nobody will notice. I coded an entire physics simulation just so the movement of the transmission cowling looks realistic. If you actually enable the VORTAC beacon playlists when creating a world, I salute you. You can find them in the 1:1 vehicles collection. I'm spending too much time on this ♥♥♥♥ so I can forget about having to find a college to apply to. How the hell does the FAFSA work?? DO NOT MOVE THE CYCLIC UNTIL YOU'RE IN THE AIR Check the black panels under the main instrument panel and make sure both gauges are at or near 0 before lifting off

I flew the S58/H34 drying cherries. It's a wonderful machine and I'm glad some did a great job bringing it to stormworks

Turn on the master battery, turn on the ignition switch, turn on the avionics inverter switch (you don't have to to start it but it's nice to do),hold 3 until the engine turns over. Make sure you don't touch w/a/s/d until you're in the air, otherwise you might tip over as soon as you lift off. Check the panel at the base of your seat under the main instrument panel to see the current cyclic position.
