Description
Removes the dynamic snow, sulfer, etc from the game that randomly covers objects splotchily during certain conditions (like when it's snowing).

Skyrim uses a dynamic overlay system to cover certain objects in effects during certain times. This is most apparent in the northern areas where you'll notice rocks are plain when it's not snowing, but get covered in white when it is.

In the CK, these dynamic overlays are called "Material Object" meshes. A few of them use .nif's to overlay a nice mesh texture, but most (like the snow) use a "single pass" option that essentially just uses a single RGB color to "paint" the overlay. This is why the dynamic snow that comes and goes on most terrain when it's snowing looks like a splotchy, white, low-res mess (as if someone painted "white out" all over things). It's using a single-pass RGB color to paint the snowy overlay.

The same can be seen in the hot springs region, where yellowish sulfer covers some objects. However, the sulfur looks like someone just put yellow paint all over things. Again, a single-pass RGB color doing the overlay.

There are mods that replace the single-pass RGB colors with actual .nif textures, so the overlays look much better. (eg: Better Dynamic Snow mod). However, this mod, being focused on low-end machines, does the opposite. It just gets rid of the overlays entirely. In the compares above, you will notice the stark difference. But, while playing, it can be hard to tell sometimes. However, you will notice the landscape seems to transition more "harshly", eg: instead of rocks being covered in snow blending into snowy terrain textures, the rocks will not have snow and can stand out from the snowy terrain texture.

Does ore vein count as "Object Overlays"? Because "Autoharvest2" mod doesn't auto harvest ore vein after i installed this mod...

It's designed to remove a graphic feature, so, yes, it's meant to cut down on FPS. However, it's not dramatic in and of itself. By itself you may see 1-2 FPS (maybe none). But, when you team it with other "remover" mods in "death of a thousand cuts" fashion, all of them together will net a tangible FPS improvement. Look at all of the mods in the "Performance & Optimization" collection that this is a part of. A lot of those are meant to be used together to create a net performance improvement when used all together.

this mod looks nice but I am having problems with subscribing I am not sure it is worth making skyrim lag to fix the overlays

This is nice even when not running a low end system. It makes the world much easier to make out and see things at a distance.

@Kameraden ... I think there's a mod on Nexus that changes plants with the seasons. I came across something while looking up trees, and they had something that caused trees to thin out and lose their leaves. Not sure if it's a published work. Could try searching there. It would probably add a lot of overhead, because every tree would require a script to get attached and constantly run to apply the seasonal effects. I think something like that was done for Oblivion, and it was a pretty cpu-intensive mod.
