Description
Welcome to the Domestic Pets mod! This mod enriches your game with the introduction of Domestic Pets. These beloved companions enhance your society's comfort and provide unique bonuses, reflecting their special place in your homes and hearts.

Key Features:
  • Domestic Pets: Species granted the domestic pet living right automatically generate a job on the planet they inhabit, similar to the in-game "Livestock" job. These pets have 100% happiness, do not consume political power or housing, and produce 4 amenities. They require 3 unity for upkeep and boost overall planet job production by 1%.

Important Notes:
  • Compatibility: This mod integrates with other mods, as it doesn't touch base game files.

@Tirith Amar: That's a completely different thing, though. I want to just have a single species or two as pets regardless of my other actions, not build an entire society around caring for life forms.

I tried my damnedest to make this mod work but the unity cost is too much.

Personally, I think it would be nice if gestalts could have pets. It would be nice to have an alternative to displacement/genocide, and I could imagine a scenario where a gestalt power (hivemind or robotic) found the idea of sapient creatures fascinating, and kept some around as pets.

Also, xenophobes should totally be able to enjoy having a sentient pet since they're assholes, and xenophiles who are full of themselves might view this as a form of charity. This is a RP heavy mod, so there's no need to restrict things.

The only way this can be improved is allowing me to make pre-sapients pets - like that's a lot more ethical than spaient pets

I've got a bit of an idea for an alternative way of handling pet slavery, or at least, some stuff that could be added into this

> Increases happiness from free pops heavily, unless they have xenophobe or xenophile ethics, albeit both for differing reasons.
> Produce amenities
> Have no political power of any kind
> Pet slaves themselves have lowered happiness
> Hiveminds and other gestalts cannot have pets, nor can they become pets.

@Technophile Max: Eh, do you want to laze around on a couch or toil eternally in a mine? And if this went on for generations then you'd end up with some very loyal pet house slaves.

I don't understand. You're forcing a sapient species to play pets, and this makes them happy? What?
